is it because of those amp's arent getting power anymore or what??

I never managed to get power through the factory amps either. I just ran new wires to each speaker. Kinda sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Check the archives guys - I posted a fairly detailed explanation of the wiring about 3 months ago - what most people miss is the power wire for the speakers (both front and back are power speakers) I don't remember the colour code now, but it is in my previous post - the speakers are powered from the stock stereo, not from the car - that's where most people go wrong - they think the speakers are dead when they are simply not getting power because the stereo has been removed and a replacement misses the hook up for the speakers.

i sure hope you arent cutting the plugs off your stock stero wiring and splicing your new radio into it. that is a HORRIBLE mistake.

i installed my own stereo perfectly in about an hour w/ my buddy, the fit and finish took an extra hour tho, cuz the install kit was pretty generic, it covers 2nd and 3rd gens, for din-and-a-half, double dins, single dins...etc.

but, what you ARE SUPPOSED to do, is go to ur local stereo shop, and ask for a Wiring harness for your car. what they give you, for about $15 usd, is 3 plugs, w/ pig tails. one for the power and grounding, one for the fronts, one for the rears. 2 blue plugs, and the power harness is white. they plug RIGHT into the factory stereo wiring that used to plug into ur old deck.

not to mention, i am using my stock amp for the front speakers. i managed to install a pair of rare panasonice 3way coaxial 2.5"s. tight yo. in the back, ive got a pair of Eclipse 6.5"s 3way. i didnt have an amp for the rear speakers.

but, there are connnectors for it. 3 12ga wires, that are constant hot, 1 is 12 ga (i think) key-on. wire the constant hott wires all together, and u can run ur OWN amp, up to about 300 watt peak. after that, youll keep blowing ur radio fuse.

right now, my car is wired for a 500 watt amp w/ the kit, the stock amp wiring is good for 300 watt, and my Clarion 6675z is good for 180 watts... 980 watts of total power aint bad, Eh? hehe

anywho, youll regret cutting into ur original stereo harness. belive you me, i tried that w/ my very First install, and smoked my stereo. GET THE HARNESS, all u have to do is splice the harness w/ ur new stereos harness, and itll plug RIGHT into the orignal stereo wiring.

good luck
chris
