How to pull the counter weight?

I searched and I could not find so I am posting:

I just received my rebuilt engine from Hayes Rotary. It is a thing of beauty: 3mm apex seals, stage two porting etc... My problem is that I need the counter weight from my old engine and I don't know how to get it off.

I measured the nut, it is 54mm. I no one in town has anything that big! The closest Mazda dealer is 250 miles away and they said they won't lend me theirs. My car is in a stall that I have to pay per hour for so having my car sit there with two engines beside it is costing me money!

Does anyone know a easy way to get the counter weight off? If not, how or where can I get a 54mm socket?

After you take of the oil pump sprocket and chain the counterweight should slide right of the shaft!

The flywheel nut is 54mm, but a 2"1\8 socket will work!

I am talking about the flywheel side.

I will search town for a 2"1/8. Thanks!

You can get the Socket at Sears

Sears is where I got mine.

Also, make sure you have an impact gun to go with the Socket. Don't try to compomise, trust me.

Once the nut is off, a couple raps with a hand sledge and off it comes.

I have the impact, it's the socket that's giving me trouble. I will try some places tomorrow.

Thanks guys/gals!

Sears has the 2/8" socket. Buy it and return it after you're done if you need to.
You will need a decent impact gun to get it to come off. It's on with like 360 ft. lbs. of torque. I took mine to a deisel shopp and paid the guy $10 to transfer mine from one motor to the next.
If you need to take the flyewheel off, make sure you leave the nut slightly threaded to the e-shaft. Whack the outter edge a few times with a sledge hammer. It WILL pop off (trust me).
If you are trying to remove the counter weight that is included on the A/T cars, I highly recommend the counterweight puller from Mazdatrix. Cheap, and does the trick. I tried a sledge on the counterweight with no luck.
Remove the flexplate and bolt the tool up to the counterweight. It comes right off.
