Print the KBB value and show it to them, see what they say.

blue book says 2700 I'd offer 2500 cash.......there is NO reason why he should hack up the price by 1K.

my first S4 (mint 88K miles i believe) cost 2200 bux ( i haggled)
my S5 90 GTU (base) cost 2400 with 110K miles
my TII cost me 5500 bux with 110K miles (i got ripped off and I jumped on it cuz it was TURBOH!!!! man...what a mistake!!! engine was dead withing 2 months)

my current GTUs cost 700 bux (shell only with a shitload of body flaws)

Don't pay more than the KBB value, for sure.

Kelly Blue Book is overinflated. Look at NADA.com and you will get a more accurate account of how much the car is worth. I agree with Madrx7racer, i would offer 2500. From my experience, if you show up with a wad of money, prices get very negotiable.

i looked at it. i really don't think that it is worth even blue book. the seat belt do not slide properly. she said that will cost 250 to fix. the sincros(sp) to 2nd did not feel very good. the seat was torn up. and the thing i did not like at all was it stalled 2 times. it seamed to me to be vacum leak.

i'm not sure if i want it, but if i do deside to get it what now do you think it is worth.

The only definite problems here are the syncrho and the seat condition then. A vac leak or any other minimal stalling problem is easily fixed by anyone that knows how to work on a 7, basically everyone that has read a few dozen threads here qualifies. The mouse belts are a FREE fix by the dealer under a federal(?) recall. I'd not tell her that though, make like you're disappointed in all the problems and then haggle the way down.

Have $2,000 in cash, and if they say no, walk away.
The car isn't in the best selling shape.
"50% tires" is something I'd worry about - tires are NOT cheap!
If it had decent tires, then the asking price is okay, but not with tires which need to be replaced soon.

Seatbelts are a lifetime recall and covered by Mazda, as 1987RX7guy stated.
It should be FREE to fix from an authorized Mazda dealer.
But don't tell them that...

Paint flaws I'd bitch about...
A new paint jobs is not cheap!

Should they charge you for labor, because neither of my seatbelts work, and they said they fixed in '97. they said the part is free but not the labor.

It should be FREE.
No labor charges.
Go call up Mazda North America Operations - they have a 1-800 number - and complaint.
Don't be surprised the dealer calls you back to apologize.
