i was thinking about that earlier.. push button start would be pretty cool, cool feature in new cars.. Though retrofitting into an old car where you still need to put the key in and foot on the clutch is kind of a turn off to me.

Theres a write up in the interior/exterior section somewhere. Its simple to do really. You'll still have to turn the key to run, and the push button would just take place of the start position of the key.

I think it'd be pretty fun to wire in a keyfob system with no key at all....

what if your car was wired to not need the clutch pushed to start it and your steering wheel didn't lock... you would be able to just go right....?

so in other words... your car would be key-less besides the door and trunk locks. doesnt sound like a very good idea to me.

this is true, but theoretically you could hide the button and then any thief would be none the wiser

Yeah its completely pointless, I like it just because I like all kinds of fun electronic stuff in my interior.

I plan on picking up an s2000 pushbutton start and putting it in the TII. you can pick up those up for $50 from honda oem.

Really? It's pretty simple to do, I made a pict for how to do the wiring on an S4 Auto-manual swap. [you jump two pins on the transmission connector and have the starter signal wire run out of one of those] I believe it's just a different connector with the same setup on S5?

Sort of on the same topic:

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/fc-rx7-remote-start-keyless-entry-write-up-viper-5101-python-1401-a-939884/

Shows which wire needs + feed to power the starter

Also shows the 2 wires that need + for the car to run (technically only 1 needs + but the 2nd turns on the accessories)

My wife's car is keyless. Never have to take the "key" out of your pocket, or in her case purse, there's a button on the door to unlock and a push button to start the car, sure would be nice to have this on the 7 too

There are ways too do this in a much less expensive manner, but here is one "premade" system to show that you CAN add this to your car...

Random side note about starting without engaging the clutch, my buddies AE86 can start without pushing the clutch in. Now, i consider myself to be pretty mechanically inclined, but I still dont know how that works.

Yes he does. But if youre trying to say that any car can start without pushing in the clutch if its in neutural, then that is.false bc mine won't

I ordered this kit, have been thinking about this idea for the FC ever since I got my IS250 with push start... http://www.advancedkeys.com/Prod_AK103B.html

Havent installed it yet though, there's 40+ things ahead on my list.
Maybe I'll do a write up when I do.

There is a sensor on the clutch pedal, his AE86 doesn't have one. Mine is bypassed, doesn't require the clutch to be in for the keyless entry. You must have the car in neutral, however.

I installed one on a different car, we bypassed needing to push the clutch in to start by jumping a wire connector under the dash. But be careful doing this, make sure you have your foot on the brake when starting, or else, well you might run into your garage. I dunno if these cars have that specific plug though.
