How to increase gas mileage

Ok, I've decided im getting really crappy gas mileage, and gas is eating away all of my funds that could be used for mods. My car probably needs a tune up would be my first guess. First things first, I just recently cleaned the air filter (K&N Rechargeable), and I bought new spark plugs (NGK), which I haven't put in yet. Now I just need to know what other little things I should tune up while I'm at doing the spark plugs. I guess I would need new wires. Anyone know a good place to get some high quality ones. And maybe clean out the fuel pump and filter? Im totally clueless on what to do here, so if anyone could help me out that would be great.

You realize that Mazda has an open-ended warranty on this?

Besides the tune-up you could try lifting your right foot.

Heh. I tried that, it's no fun j/k

Even when I keep it below 3k RPM I still get bad gas mileage

Make sure all components are in top working shape.&nbsp This mainly includes the ignition system:&nbsp spark plugs, spark plug wires, coils.&nbsp Add a CDI box - this will give you up to a couple mpg.&nbsp Run thinner weight oil - thinner oil, less friction to turn engine.&nbsp Run an efficient exhaust and intake system - something not as obivious, but it does give you more power per unit of fuel.

To who it may concern,

From my many years of expereance, I have learned that tune ups add an obsiene amount of hp. If you get one, It will push you up to about 300 hp. With the tune up you might be able to beat your friend Brad who just happens to have an 82 mazda Rx-7. Or even better, your girl friend with the geo.

What the hell are you talking about? A tune up will not get you extra hp! It will restore the hp lost from crappy tuning, such as bad wires, fouled plugs, and a misadjusted hp. It will not add obscene [sic] amounts of horsepower, and it will not get him up to 300.

Try www.corksports.com. I got my Magnecor 10mm turbo wires from them.. I think the price was about $65, not sure.. Good luck!
