Anyone who knows about Wiring Harness Please help. Car wont start

Ok... My car wont start now on my 89GXL with 90 GTU wiring harness... I know someone has done this. The lights turn on and gauge cluster also comes on and I hear the beep beep beep when I put the keys in.. BUT

The idiot cluster or where all the warning things come up DO NOT turn on. When I hold in the clutch Still nothing? WTF... All the connectors in the harness are plugged with something except one connector in the FC01 CPU box and also the SSPS box. I dont know what that is. How am I going to start my car before work tomorow???

Please help. THis might be an easy fix.

As I mentioned before the 90 harness is different than the 88-89.

The extra connector maybe for an Automatic CPU... which would mean you would need to move some pins and jumper some wires.

You will need to Troubleshoot the harness from the key to the starter, and it sounds like the idiot lights as well.

You may wish to unplug all the extra things like the warning lights until you double check the wires.

If it was me I would want a complete service manual with wiring pin locations to confirm against.

All 86-8 NA harnesse are identical all 89-91 NA harnesses are identical.

IF you left the CPU unplugged(driver kick panel) that is why the lights dont work...the CPU controls them :-)

Ok.. Hypmatyze and Icemark. I just found the prob. I had forgot to conect the power connector from the bat cable to under the fuse box on the harness. Started right up. I dont have blinkers though, But I do have emergency blinkers. Do u guys know why this is???

Icemark. I checked all the connectors and they are all identicle . I checked most of the colors on the plug to confirm just on the major conectors... All was fine. Pluged into the Alarm as well but I noticed that thiers no power anything.. Windows sunroof mirriors rear wiper sports susupension oh my.....I dont care about that stuff. Im just glad that I have my car running. Anyways thnx and about that other ?.. Anyone.

The differences was because the harness was a GUT and my car is a GXL. Other than that its Series 5 . 5speed non ABS non convertable. So thiers no reason why it shoudlnt of worked.. But if u know something Icemark tell me because I dont want probs down the road.

Sorry, but I don't think so.

Go pull a front harness out of a base, and pull a harness out of a GXL. All those connectors for power windows/doorlocks are missing. Hell, even the fuse block doesn't have anything to plug fuses into for those spots.

;I thought you said it started right up once you connected the battery???????

Yes, I think you will be able to start the car without any issues. HOwever, if you can't open your windows, that's kind of an annoyance, don't you think?

Yes it is very anoying actually. And the car did start right up but to tell u the truth I only started it for two seconds then had to go to bed for work the next day. I really didnt know if it was going to run like **** or not but it runs fine. Im going to have to connect a battery to the window just to get them to move. Thiers aslo no PL but the alarm system still turns on. How the hell am I going to set it when the Locks dont operate. Usually I would have to push the locks down so that the light would turn on. Now the locks are not function but the light turns on still so im assuming it works. Just dont know how to set it. Do U??
