how do you.....

hey everyone, how do you get to the point where you can turn the motor manually to check compression? thanks Gabe

you can not manually turn the motor fast enough to check compression. At very least you would need to be able to crank the car/engine to 250 RPM

well im going to get a motor tomarrow and try to test comp,im guessing there is no chance of this now?

hook a battery up to the starter and let it crank

dont i have to push on the clutch to? the car im getting the motor from has been t boned pretty bad.

If the engine is in a car (which you have not mentioned before your last post), then yes, of course you would need the clutch in or thr drive shaft disconnected.

well the engin is in the car, im going tomorrow to yank the beast out. so what do you i should do? disconect thedriveshaft or something else? i think i sound stupid right now

uhhhh, do wutever it is u need to do to be able to crank the engine off the starter.

It seems like you should be able to take out the spark plugs, and then turn the motor over by pulling on the alternator belt.

When you turn the motor, you should hear it fart as the compressed air escapes out the plug holes. That's the only way I know that you can check for compression manually.
