Line up the mark on the front pulley, then stab the crank angle sensor in I always take the top off the cas and hold it still while inserting it.

edit: sorry a little vauge. I don't know your knowlege level..

There is a mark on the CrankAngleSensor (CAS) that you line up with the body of the CAS (at the bottom) That must go in and stay straight while the peg on the front cover is lined up with the mark on the main pulley...

Hope that is a little more clear.. Im sleepy.. sorry

Yes it matters you turn the front pulley clockwise until the first notch in the side of the eccentric shaft pulley lines up with the pointer that is the leading the trailing is the second .notch .. then insert the cas as rrtec explained ,, after you have it running then you can tweak it with a timing light if necessary

You need to line up the first notch on the pulley while turning it clockwise.

Forget about the key, line the first mark (the yellow one)up with the pointer) on the front cover,, WackyRicer gave you some good advice check it out then you will have a better understanding of the system ..

If the OP replaced the front cover gasket, then it is possible his main pulley is off 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Now, if the main pulley bolt was removed and the pulley wasn't unbolted, then none of the above is possible. Then follow everyone's suggestions about the alignment of the pulley marks and pointer on the front housing. It all depends on your procedure for replacing the front cover gasket. If you removed the main bolt (out of the e-shaft), then you may need to check your thrust bearings for proper seating/fitment.

What Wacky was referring to is the flat surface on the stock flywheel should be upright on the passenger side. Meaning the straight line should go up and down, not the flat surface facing upward. You can easily see this by removing the FW cover on the passenger side of the bell housing. Do as he mentions and search for this for a more clear description and I seem to remember there are some photos. The key way on the main pulley should point toward your exhaust ports, which is roughly at a 9 o'clock position if you are looking at the main pulley from the front of the car.

on a 12-A pulley, the first notch is your TDC.

For a 13-B motors, look at the 10mm bolt @ 12 oclock as this is your TDC marker. you have to remember that the 13-B timing mark is not 0 but either 10 or 12. I cant remember exactly as I'm running a RB pulley or I have replaced them with 12-A pulley with timing marks ala Paul Yaw
