hardpipe for TID

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a hardpipe for the turbo inlet duct? If so, where and how much. Mine is a little cracked so its affecting my idle and how well my car holds boost. Thanks

Search the 2nd Gen section for "TID". This has been covered many, many times.

i made one for my tII. i went to my local napa parts store and bought a 3 inch pipe with a 45 degree bend and some silicon couplers and it worked just fine. also raised the boost about 2-4 psi too. i was fairly happy with the results.

No, it's not possible.

If you put a hard pipe in place of the stock TID, the car will instantly burn to the ground, a vortex will open underneath and you will both be sucked into a universe populated entirely by clones of Danny Devito...

Sarcasm aside, of course it's possible. I don't think any commercially available part exists so it's something you will nee to make yourself. The common choice is ABS plumbing parts. They're cheap, don't heat soak and are easy to work with. Take a look at what you need to replace by looking at the stock TID. You'll need some nipples to connect to the BOV, purge and BAC, a few elbows and some metal to make brackets. A 2.5" coupler will fit the turbo inlet, and a 3" will fit the S4 AFM (as well as the S5?). Make sure to keep the S4 AFM level.

That eBay piece is missing some vacuum lines. Also you need to make sure there is space to mount the AFM. And metal heat soaks in that location like crazy, so you'll want to wrap it...

Cool, can i see it? I'm making a custom box and i'll be ordering some heat wrap for the box intake and the downpipe. I don't want to make the box yet until i know the exact position my intake will be... One quick question, the ebay site shows 90 and up. Is the s5 turbo placed a little different because that little bend makes me think that the cone would hit the radiator.

Nah. He's probably a moonshiner in NZ, and he just took ducting off one of his old stills. humor

I made mine in similiar fashion as described above for less the $50. IMO, this is one of the best supporting mods for the money- assuming your setup can handle the additional 2-3psi boost increase.

I purchased a 3" Al 45 deg pipe , a 3" to 3" silicone coupler, and a 3" to 2.5" silicone coupler- all from ebay. Support brackets can be made from AL stock from home depot or lowes.

How much did it up ur boost? Wondering cuz i just straight piped my exhaust and i don't have my wastegate ported so i don't want to run too much boost. I'm at around 6-6.5 psi right now

Nope, the pipe was a freebee from an industrial steel and tube supplier we use at work.
