Sounds Like Screeching!

Ok, for some odd reason, when my 87 TII, for one is idling at 1500 rpms, for two when it is idling I hear a screech. Now I check my oil all the time. and there is plenty of oil.... I'm using Royal Purple 5w20....... It's cold here in Portland, Oregon, and rains a lot..... I'm just wondering if its the coldness that is making it screech........ Does anyone have avalid reason why its doing this?

Hasan

How often does it do to you? since you are an oregonian yourself also. Like the Pulley on the alternator? cuz for some odd reason, I can't seem to get the pulleys to line up, for the belt to run smoothly....

Well.. the pully's lining up would make the belts squeek maybe?... I know you say its not the belts... but maybe it is.

What I meant by pully's is like... the one near the PS pump expecially. It died on like two of my cars... couldn't find a used one that didn't make a little noise, had to get one from the dealer.. sucked. it was like 30 bucks. On the other car, I repacked it with grease and it worked fine until I sold the car a year later.

I have one that I could sell ya.. doesn't make noise. but.. find out if thats it first... lets hope its not something WAY worse... like a dying air-pump, alternator bearing/bushings, power steering pump (check fluid levels?), AC pump, Water pump bearings....

Other than that stuff, there isn't much to make a noise like that in the engine bay. Let me know the next time you are in the newberg area and we can look at it....

Ok, if the air pump is referred to as the smog pump.... that is cancelled out, because its not on. Nope not ps cuz the belt isn't on, as of now, and ps hasn't been workin' for god knows how long, been meaning to put new lines in but haven't gotten a chance to do it yet, cuz it did leak the last time I put ps fluid in, and I know steering screech..... had many ps screech with last car

Well.. then you should go out, start the car, pop the hood... and put your ear toward it. Thats how I find where things are coming from. Just a thought. Hehe.

Okay today when I was driving, the car was idling perfectly fine, no screeching whats so ever.... then when I turn on the heater it starts to screech, and the idle surges..... and I'm hella confused!

Did your heater have anything to do with the A/C also being on?
