Gutted Cats

My friend has an 86' n/a and a few days ago we gutted his cats. My question is do we now have to wire the 5th and 6th ports open? Thanks. Also he has no mufflers b/c they fell off. Would that make a difference?

If you fix the leak and replaced the gutted cat with some pipe of the same diameter as the rest of the exhaust, no more loudness!

I have an '89 Turbo II and it has custom piping from the turbo to a custom Y-pipe...all stock exhaust diameter for the Turbo II. (Stock mufflers still too)

THe tone is real nice!
Edit: the exhaust leaks make it SOOO LOUD!!!

You only need to wire the 5th and 6th ports open if you have removed your Air Pump or disconnected the 5th or 6th port actuators (from my knowledge)...I am more of a turbo guy...

I have recently gutted my cat (well, it actually 'gutted' itself) and have not done anything to the 5-6 ports. Still feels the same except for a bit more power. It is stinkier than it was.

When you mess with your cats your whole exhaust system is going to sound like a big *** leak basically you could have the nicest looking car with gutted cats and it could sound as bad as a beater going 5 mph down the road cause thats all it can do...instead of going the cheap route get a racepipe from bonez for under 100 bucks or so and your car will sound a hell of a lot better

I already do have a race pipe from bonez for 170bucks and the cars is amazingly loud. The power gains were awesome but I need to get rid of it for the time being to get my brakes on the car. I need to put my old set up on and cant figure out if I should gut the pre cats

eh precats make just as much noise as the main cat so it all depends on how much noise you want
