Gauging interest.... 2 items...

I found a local apolsterer who is very good and does lots of "hot rods" and customs around here... I went to price a shift boot for the fc today and was surprised at how cheap he could do it... He had several color options and could even mix and match.. The price is about $20 plus shipping and they are very well made... He is making me one right now and i'll post pics... they are custom cut from the oem pattern so they look VERY original....

Also

Would anyone be intrested in a pre wired ecu code reader to be installed somewhere in the dash so you can easily see it if something goes wrong.. The price would include all the pre-wired hardware and everything needed for install.... Around $20 also- for the s4 cars....

anyone?

I am interested in the boot definately.

What about this code reader? What kind of display is it? Alpha-numeric or just numeric codes? I mean, either is good, just one would be a little bit more difficult to do.

I would more than likley purchase both of those, but I would definitly get the code reader for $20-$30 not a bad deal for a nifty and useful little gadget.

If it's a good boot I'd DEFINATELY pay $20 for it, you can't really get a crappy one at a rice shop for that price.

As for the code reader I don't think I'd care for one permanently in my dash, but I would like something I can just plug in at will to do a quick check if I think something is wrong.

Although I would need S5 instead of S4

I'd be interested in a pic of the code reader code displayed.

If you're going for the OEM look, why not spend the extra $12 and get one from Mazda?

boot? Hell yeah, mine is really worn. I'd also think it'd be cool if you could hook up a shift boot/E-brake boot combo. I'll take mine in black leather with blue stiching.

His boots are excellent and fit is top notch. I purchased a shift/parking brake combo quite awhile ago.

He's DroptopRX7 on this forum. Here's a thread, from a couple months back:

The cool thing is he can do several color stichings too, just about any color you want...He can mix and match colors of the boot itself too, like say black and silver or black and blue, or black w/ red stitching, stuff like that, he would be making each one as they are ordered... He said he can make the parking brake lever boots too... The package would be about $35 boot and parking brake...

I'll post pics when mine gets done...

he has several materials, I chose "pleather" to keep the cost down and he had lots of color options on it too. But he can do leather sueade and others reasonably priced too, the pleather feels and looks just like leather and is textured the same as well, The pics will speak for themselves..

this is probably going to sound like a noob question, but what would the code reader tell me about the engine?

The code reader would send up codes telling you different problems with sensors as they occured. I guess i would have two models availible one to install in the car and one you plug in under the hood when you are doing routine maintenence, or troubleshooting.... The one for under the hood would be considerably cheaper- like $15....Those are available now. They will come with instructions on how to use it and how to diagnose the problems.

Ditto that. Ralf has been making this stuff for sometime now. It's top grade leather, really soft, pretty much any color leather and stitching....

I highly recomend him.
