fun with ABS....
ok got a bunch of stuff done last week. and yesterday when the car rolled a few feet after starting the abs light comes on which makes it not work. noticed something very strange today. started car, pushed brake pedal (not moving) and ABS came on, you could feel it in the pedal as I was stoped. I could do make it happen over and over as I pressed the brake... I got out and pulled the fuse... hmm, what would cause it to come on? speed sensor? voltage problem?
what was done last week.
removed all of rear brakes and hubs to install toe bushings and hawk pads. changed front pads/rotors, SS brake lines, bleed brakes. but also took out alternator to change the water pump. I've heard of voltage/power problems causing weird things. so I'm not sure if this has something to do with taking the brakes apart or the alternator and wires around it...
doh

If the light comes on after you start rolling, it's most likely a wheel sensor problem. Make sure all sensors are plugged in and the air-gap is corrent.

the FSM doesn't go into the abs at all, it just tells you how to use the factory abs code checker tool...

While I have no explanation for the problem i can tell you your not alone. I was sitting idling in the driveway one day and the ABS kicked in, I could feel it pulsating through the pedal. It lasted for 30sec then stopped, and never did it again.

I would get rid of it.. but anyways...
If the ABS is going on whenever you press the pedal, the computer thinks the wheels are locked up, ei- Not moving, therefore, it's not getting a voltage pulse from the sensor.
I would say it's almost for SURE the wheel sensor, check the wires for the actuall sensor, and make sure the sensor didn't get knocked away from the rotating ABS wheel on the hub.
