front crank bolt

Hi, I took off my front crank pulley bolt. I noticed the thing inside is different on the s5 t2 engine I jsut purchased vs my old s4 t2 engines. The s5 is an alluminum machined piece while my s4 engine hasa copper or bronze looking hting. What is the difference?

One of them has the bypass mod. Use that one.

Took off the front bolt? I hope you took the proper precautions, read this: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

Hey, Thanks for the info. I was wondering which one has the bypass? The alluminum machined one? I also have a high pressure oil regulator and a shimmed oil pump, is it ok to use it?

The machined aluminum one is the bypass one, which you should use. It causes oil to always flow through the rotors. In stock form oil doesn't circulate through the rotors allowing the oil to heat up faster. If the thing that I can't remember the name of fails, then the oil in the rotors will get super hot, causing problems.
