Fire Starter

Well I have owned a 87 GXL for 2 years now and have taught myself quite about the rotary engine. I done quite a bit with the na : flywheel, exhaust, springs etc and JUST like everyone else want more power. Well the good news is I found a s5 tii for cheap with a new motor (seals and housings). YEAH!!!!!!!!!! the owner before went to put it back together and could not get it running. At first it was having fuel problems so he put new injectors on.Would start and die after a few seconds. The owner was in school about 150 miles away and took a lot of classes so it did not get much time. This is where I come in. I got her home in the garage and went to work fixing a vac leak and hooking up a little more wiring harness etc. Then new plugs and a little oil, foot all the way down on the pedal and she would run. YEAH!! AS soon as I got to about 2000 rpm she died. Im thinking vac leak still somewhere and still flooding easy running rich. I wanted to get her warm and set idle, tps. went to start again and a slight boom. or poof which ever you prefer. and flame from the injector area appeared. I put it out quickly thank god. A couple seconds seemed like mins. Well seems like injector o rings gave. maybe was not installed correctly by last guy or pulsation damper bad? I dont know I searched on here and thats what i came up with. wondering what to do next? I guess ill take it apart. I will have to take vacation just to get it done. Not the way I wanted to spend it. closest specialist is in Indy / bloomlington IN.( found on here. THANKS ) Im in evansville. I really just want to drop it off and just pay, come back and drive it home. Its been a couple days now and am now calm. Really needed to vent. Sorry for the long post but any Ideas. Comments. good jokes. how much would something like droping it off and getting it checked out/ fixed cost. I was thinking around 1200 to 15. Maybe i just need a few more days to get my spunk back. ANYTHING would be helpful and much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Funny. I thought someone would have at least told me to f+~ off. Has this not happened to anyone? I would hate to take off whole intake and replace things just for it to happen again cause Im missing something.

It turned out to be oil inj lines. There was some fuel n oil from flooding. Had been sitting a while and found some vac lines and other pieces to be brittle. Changed engine harness and went premix. Also changed injectors to 4 RC750s. This is a s5 with electric oil pump. Also went to Rtec 2.x for ecu. Inj o rings/seals or oil lines. Now having other problems.

Oh so true. On s5 must trick ecu to think pump is there( after unpluged)[premix or mop] or will go in limp mode/fail safe

Eliminating the hassle? Premix is good... As long as you remember to premix.

LOL..
Apparently your irony gauge is a little broken today?

clean87>> if you want to go the cheap route, the writeup for building your own OMP lines is pretty easy and mine are still in great condition after 5 years.
