Input shaft removal (without rebuild)

Can the input shaft be removed from the T2 trans without diassembling the rest of the transmission? I'll be looking to swap one out without rebuilding if possible.

no. it is physically attached to the 1st gear inside the tranny, the gear will keep it from coming out even if you attempted to slide hammer it out.
