If I were to get this hood for my N/A, I would be replacing a heavy hood for something lighter and allows better airflow through the engine bay and isn't bent. In that sense, this hood would also be "ideal" for me (and the fact I'm getting all the little things on the car setup for a more powerful motor later this year anyway.)
I didnt feel attacked just did not appreciate GXL's comments and this hood would be great for anyone I just get offended by the word rice. particularly when it is used to refer to functional items and I must admit I am just a touch on the argumentative side

So I appolagize if I offended you I was just trying to get my point across to GXL.

lol now your all offending me IM N/A at the moment and I made the hood lol
BAKARA!!!!
jk
im going to be the soup natzi of car parts....................................
NO PARTS FOR YOU!!

lol in my opinion this hood benifets everyone and looks good doing it (but ill go with the n/a guys in saying I wouldnt normally have put a vent their turbo or otherwise but in the begining of the thread the majoraty of people wanted it so I went with it and tryed to make it work but be not overly notice able when you see profile shotes the lip on the turbo vent is very small with most of the opening droping below the hood line the grey primer and black shadow do it no justice)

im am very glad many of you like it the way it is as your right it was alot of time and effort to make and those who have reservations about the turbo vent wait to see more pics before crossing the hood off your list your find the turbo vent does blend in pretty well.

Thanks Mael

sorry for using the word rice but i dont see how that vent is going to cool down the one million billion trillion degree hot turbo anymore than the vent that goes along the hood and window boundary... sorry about the rice.. i would be pissed two if someone kept slapping the word rice at me... sppedmachines car had that vent too and i can only see theirs working when you turn the car off makeing the turbo cool faster but.. the NACA duct on your hood implies its for removing hot air while driving. cooling effiecny for that is like a drop of water on the exhaust.. ok ill shut up about the vent now and as i posted originally before the bullets started flying good job...

Well, I'm glad to see that everybody is getting along again.

And we have received some deposits already so thanks to those who have already joined the waiting list. I can promise you won't be disappointed.

wow that was like 3 pages of heated debate...

gxl the turbo vent is like this...the lip creates a low pressure zone over the vent with sucks air through it...sucks air from around you're hot turbo or for us NA guys out hot *** headers are right there as well...and it makes more of a difference than you seem to think...with an unvented hood where does all that hot air go?? NOWHERE, it stays there and marinates...so at speed it makes a difference...and when you're stopped you're not revved out, you're at idle...the need for ventilation isnt very high at idle.

zach, you know i'll be gettin this hood ASAP, looks great...

mael. you did an awesome job! and if its half the quality of the other parts i've seen it surpasses 95% of the stuff on the market.

I am totally using that instead of saying heat soak from now on.
.... "heat marination"

we should create another thread for this..... i think thats bull poopy need data to prove it.. there is still a huge hole from one side of the car to the other along the base of the glass.....the affects are minimal... in order for that vent to work you would have to plug that umm lets call it a "hood cowl area" you would have to plug long vent up in order to have any real draw and for that NACA duct to really work well it should have been made straight for and a backwards in relation to the relative wind. so again that vent is just for style.. especially being cocked sideways like that. i could only see any major cooling help if the vent was bigger and during idling. like the speed machine one.. its not big enough. the vent should have been made in realtion to the relative wind to even get a lil bit out of it.. and the funny part about it all is even though people are being all defesive and hostile and **** about i would still consider buying it.. as nothing else has such a decent main vent...but its fun to fight:-P

YES we should create another thread... lets do that. do you promise not to post your unwanted opinion on it REPEATEDLY! For your information the "HUGE HOLE" from one end to the other on every FC I have ever owned has a rubber seal that makes it.... NOT A HOLE! So for morons we will do some math 1 angled hole + 0 other holes = 1 hole. Still more than 0, still functional! I grant you straight would probably pull better but that is as close to agreeing with you that I will probably ever get.

we could put this hood on and make 5 runs with the hole uncovered and 5 with it covered and see that in fact there WILL be a difference I and Juiceh will do this test and I will PM you the results but for now we all wish you would STFU! You have already said your piece and then beat it like it was dead horse, this is a thread about being part of the group buy! As Zach said if you dont like it dont buy one. Just in case it is unclear I AM BEING RUDE... INTENTIONANLY! because obviously nothing else gets through to you.

i love how hostile you guys are getitng its awesome.. im not pissed at all and you are getting revved up. about nothing.. i never noticed it was sealed or else i wouldnt be running my yap.. but still you guys can keep the fight going.. cuz im not being evil/wicked/nasty. you cant be rude on the internet its just words. rofl you guys are hilarious... you should take up yelling at walls in your spare time.. this is still the internet... first thing in the morning i will be under my hood lookng for the seal that blocks off the flow of air.. i have no shame in inserting a foot if i am wrong but damn you need to cleaned the sand out your mangina rofl hahahahaha. entirely too wound up.. but closing in if its closed like you say it is than the vent works.. as i stated earlier angry man. thats all someone had to say from the get go...

Juiceh, sounds good bro.

GXL, glad to see that things are all figured otu now.

Tinvestor, wow you need a beer. Better yet, you need several beers.

Robtech, I'll be looking forward to getting a hood for you bro. And I'm sure that Mael will really appreciate what you said about the quality of our parts.

And if we can drop the whole arguing thing now. Either drop it or make a new thread about it. But if it continues in this thread then I will be deleting posts and I really don't want to do that. Thanks everybody.

Zach

GXLbiscuit, I didn't mean to come off as rude. But yes, calling the vent on our hood ricey when it was designed for function and not fashion is like a slap in the face. But I do apologize if I came across as rude.

And N/A guys will benefit from this hood just like a V-mount IC setup guy will. Lower underhood temps are a good thing regardless if it's N/A or forced induction.

Zach
sorry bout the dreaded rice word but like i said earlier the hood is still awesome......im always a lil slow ( a duh a duh BABY RUUUUUUTH!!!!) like a day or so to respond to your message.

Yes, this is no place for flaming. gxl hasn't really sad anything much other than that he thinks the vent is ricey. Which I'd think the makers could get kinda pissed about but others need not defend them so much

I called Reese recently Zach, was surprised now that his cell phone is now purely for business? Was gonna ask about ordering something.

You know something funny... After all this time I still haven't modded the car any haha. Though recently my cats have gotten horribly clogged and I'm just gonna go ahead and do the whole exhaust... I've had an rtek1.7 for a little while.. just need to get injectors...

Annoying though. Wish I had a bit more money right now or was working more this summer. I'm getting the Corksport catback due to it being pretty cheaply priced.. And now I learn they won't have any in stock til July. Agh, I'm not waiting that long.... Or don't want to. But there's no other catbacks around that price it seems I was gonna get a cheap one I found until I found it was 2.5". Tryin to do all 3"... Bah. I don't want to pay $450+ for a catback at the moment but that seems to about be my only option to keep from waiting so long. Unless I can find someone selling theirs... Annoying. And now to shutup, too much typing here. I'm sad, I went to Reese's board recently and noticed I was the last poster... from like 3-4 months ago.

Don't worry guys, I'll keep bugging Mael until we get those pictures for everyone. I know that Tinvestor and Juiceh are waiting to see those pictures before they put down their deposits.

I am very much interested in the reverse hood scoop, RX7.com had one from Japan @ a cost of $460 too expensive. I ordered one from Chuck @ rx7Xtreme same price so I cancelled the order.

"CANT WAIT"

Anyways my vote goes for more of a cutback main vent, like the panspeed hood.
Can the hood be cut back more like the panspeed one,or is there underhood ribbing there?

I'd like pics of the underside of the hood too, if at all possible.

-Andrew

P.S.: It might be a good idea to get your hands on a digital video camera and just get a nice video of the hood which covers all angles of it. I've found that video gives a much better impression than a ton of pictures.
