Exhust Question...

Alright, so I'm new to this forum. Try not to flame me... I've got a question about muffler choices. As of now, my 87 Sport's set up like this. There's the stock exhaust manifold, then through a 2.5 inch pipe to a hollowed out glasspack. Then to the stock Y, and to the stock mufflers. I kind of like the sound, but it's nothing compaired to Racing Beat, CS, or Apex'i. I was searching around here and found a few threads saying what mufflers people were running. I just want to put 2 new ones in place of the stock ones. So far I've found:

And really that's it, besides the 3 others I mentioned before. I'm a bit low on cash, and I want to try keeping the price around $100-$200. And I know many of you are going to say 'save up for something better',but I want something now that looks better. My mufflers are rusty and dirt-colored, so they don't really flow with the rest of the car. But dont worry, one day I'll have a nice, full exhaust

    Thanks Guys.

And oh yeah, I like this look:

but something hidden like this will work too:

and god nothing obnoxious like this:

Thanks again. Hopefully this forum will be helpful

edit- And nothing ricey If I was going to be like that I'd stick on a Folgers can and some T2 stickers

And one more thing- I dont want it loud or anything to draw a lot of attention. I already get enough hassle from the cops around here...

As you said, save up and do it right. Everyone has the time and money to screw it up and then wonder why it doesn't work.
Bottom line, with the heat these things put out, go with Racing beat or Borla. Racing Beat mufflers are quieter.
Take a look what RX7.com has. I believe Kevin, at RotaryResurrection.com has those on his and he has enough experience with these cars to know what works without question...
Oh sure, you can go with all the other stuff people will suggest, but those two stainless steel choices are top notch. Save up and buy right.

Isn't that the absolute truth...and failed to be recognized by so many on this board...
That's one of the reasons so many of these cars are trashed out...

I know I should save up and get something decent and nice, but something now that cleans it up a bit would really help. I mean, even stock mufflers would work with me. It's just that since my mufflers don't even hang even and are the color they are, it ruins the whole back end, which I just added Series 5 tail lights to.

And I've got another question; if you cut that tube leading to where the cat should have been, your 5th and 6th ports stop working? Correct?

Well, here's a thought. I just got from NC last night. I picked up some parts from a guy who goes by Mazdaracecar on Ebay. Contact him through Ebay. He had a Y pipe and mufflers (stock) sitting in his pile of car parts. Ask him what it would cost for him to ship them to you. Ask him what condition they were in, but from what I saw, they looked ok...from the outside.
That would solve your problem for the time being.

Hey, I bought an idiot light surround off him a while back... cool. And I'll send him a message on there tomorrow. I'm off the computer for tonight.

^that competes with "save up for something nice" as the best solution I've heard

I dont think they'd be working since that tube gets back pressure from the exhaust at 3800 (I think its 38). Can someone back this up?
