Engine not Straight in Engine Bay?
Engine not Straight in Engine Bay?
I am in the process of doing an engine swap and have the engine in but it doesn't seem to be straight or parallel to the axis of the car. I put in new mazda competion engine mounts and trans mounts. I messed with the mounts as much as I could but the engine doesn't want to sit straight. Anyone know whats going on or should I not worry about it.
I think (but I'm not sure) that it might make a difference as to which way you rotate the metal caps that go over the mounts, so that the little bump on the mount is in the correct end of the slot on the cap. The way it appears to me, the position of the bump in the slot could shift things up to about an inch. The FSM makes no mention of this, though, so I'm a little hesitant to say this.

The more I think about it, the more I realize I don't recall this clearly. The bump I mentioned earlier must be on the top of the cap, and the slot in the bracket on the motor--otherwise, it wouldn't make any difference.
I'm not sure if the mounts being spun will matter. The studs sticking out top and bottom are in a straight line. I would just make sure the bottom studs aren't stuck in a position that has them uneven where they go through the subframe slots.
