elecrtical fire!!

elecrtical fire!!

i just bought a 86' rx7 and the guy said that he was driving and the lights went out and a little smoke came from the dash and he turned off the car but when he tried to turn it back on it would not start, any ideas what i should check??

the dash and all the wiring are a good place to start... A possibility of an electrical fire is NO JOKE!!

yeah i know electric fire sucks! hats what i was thinking the harness is there any particular place i should start is there like a fusible link or module i should check to eliminate stuff quickly?

but why would that make the motor not start?

Unrelated and probably flooded.

If there was a puff of smoke and the dash/parking lights went out, there is nothing that ties them to the engine running.

The light switch and light harness connection is a known issue with these cars.

Did you check fuses? I would hope that you would before posting.

+1 I had a wire short out from my turn signal switch in my gauge cluster bezel.

ok so is it possible that a burned up wiring harness shorting out underneith the dash could stop the car from running? it gets fuel but no spark? smitched out coil and ignitors for good ones still nothing? what do you think icemarl??
