Drain And Refill

The other day i drained and refilled my tranny in my tII with some nice clean GL-5. I also did the rear differential.
It made one hell of a difference. But i do have a question. There are 2 check and drain plugs on the tranny i only did the front one and didnt check the back plugs. Should i or should i leave it alone. What is it for and what fluid would it Take. Thank you.

Take both out. fill the front until it flows out the rear. If you fill the front full, you will have overfilled the trans and under pressure, fluid will be expelled.
Get car level, and remove the rear plug and let excess fluid drain.
When my '89TII was new, dealership did the same thing, removed on front plug. As I pulled in my driveway I had smoke coming from under the car. Fluid on exhaust. I removed rear plug and watched the excess drain out.

Redline/amsoil/mobil1 gear oils cost between $5-$12 a quart. It depends if it is available in your area. There are plenty of mail order sites that carry it. I prefer to give my business to the speed shops/autopart stores in the area first.
The synthetics work better than the cheapo oils.
Its your choice if you want to spend money for slightly better protection or just stick with the free changes.

I also use redline. In my climate, it's been great winter/summer.
Make sure you use the correct one for the trans and for the rear (a/c posi).

Watch it - GL-5 is not good for the transmission unless EXPLICITLY stated on the container.&nbsp GL-4 is the proper fluid rating for transmissions.
