I'm positve collecting it makes more power. go to a race track and everyone will have it collected right before the muffler.

you run a dual header, dual pipes side by side to the back, and then collect them into one muffler right infront of it. there is a set distance from the engine you want it to collect at but I forget.

people have posted that a dual makes more power, but race cars don't lie, maybe a true dual makes more top end, but looses so much more anywhere else, I don't know.

ahhh, thanks scott i know the selectmaz is dual all the way till right after the tire, then goes into a single collector, built similar to mazdatrix just dual into one collector instead of dual all the way

I had been told by a rotary racer that there's some number like 109 inches where you can collect. It's not for more power, but instead, there's no longer any gain from not collecting after that point. At a certain distance, the exhaust pulses have weakened/dispursed to a point where they don't really impede flow from the other pipe.

The picture above is the Racing beat long primary system (or the Street port system)

It is the same one Mazda trix sells

it is probably also the one that select maz sells..

So go with the cheepest price..

True dual will ALWAYS make more peak power, but the powerband will be narrower than a collected exhaust. It is also much louder than a collected exhaust. The farther you move the collector from the engine, the more top end you get, and the narower the powerband gets. But no matter where its collected, it will always be much quieter than true dual.

Oh, and this is for non-turbos. Turbo cars have different needs for exhaust.
