Completion of auto to 5 speed convert!!

I finally got around to doing the convertion...it only took me 14 hours to complete-11:30am to 1:30am...I am about 95% complete--just have to connect reverse lights and clean up some of the mess all over my car...when pretty well only problems were making the mount to hold the tranny up and some pain in the arss bolts...drives like a champ...didn't even have to adjust the idile--sits right at 750rpm...I need to fix my pesky coolant leak...its leaking around the thermal wax pellet...JBweld should fix that though...no pictures of instal--sorry no camera...I did however follow rotary ressurection's install instructions...they worked well...

just thought ya'll would like to know...

I can now call her a true sports car---as sports car should not be automatic

nope...idils just fine stay at 750rpm...It has the stock flywheel so I don't know if that makes a differnance...I'm waiting for my clutch to break-in because it slips like crazy...Try to burn out and the tires break loose but the whole time the clutch slips and then when it finally grabs it bogs down and regains traction...Oh well, I just need to break it in and it should be fine I hope--unless the stock clutch suck and will never grab...anyone with the same problem!!!
And yes I will be getting better thing--just need some cash to get more dash!!

Mad props to you. I don't know why they made a automatic in the first place. Way to complete your true sports car! What type of clutch are you using?

How much car mechanic knowledge do you need to know to complete an auto to manual conversion? I'm not that good on working on cars but desperatly want to do the conversion.

I have a good bit of mechanical knowledge...I wouldn't attempt this now that I have without using a shop with a lift...It took me 14 hours with a shop and lift---imagine how long that would be using jackstands...All I can say is make sure u have everything that u need and read every write-up and so u will know exactly what to do next in order for everything to go smoothly!!

use this site, go to the tech section and go to the auto to 5 speed convertion link...The write-up is very good!!http://rotaryresurrection.com/
