Ok so I've learned its part of the S5 ECU, so disabling at that location is out of the question? I'm pretty handy with a soldering/desoldering irons, so if it were as easy as removing a component, not too bad.

Otherwise, is there a sensor (door lock cyl maybe) that can be tripped open, or cut closed to keep the security system from activating?

No, it is part of the CPU (body computer) not the ECU (engine/emissions computer)

The system only activates if you lock the door from inside the car, and hold the outside door handle while closing the door.

So if you don't want the system to arm, don't lock it from the inside.

strange... I never close the door holding the outside door handle up...

I'm guessing that the sensor has the circuit copen when the handle is up, and its just not plugged in?

I have the alarm go off at random times... Like I'll walk away from the car come inside, and 5 minutes later the alarm is going off. I live in a pretty remote area of town, and there is *no one* around.

I just want to disable it all together, but ntohing seems to work...

UNplug the top plug from the CPU, and it'll be done. Ive had this on a couple of other s5 cars...the door lock sensors are pretty sensitive sometimes. IF it works okay, leave it alone, but when it gives you problems, it's best for reliability and such to just disable it.

some dreaded previous owner (DPO) installed an aftermarket alarm in my car (and not very well judging from the wiring and sensor mess) Do I have any recourse but taking it to an alarm professional? I had my locks and stuff go crazy with me IN the car once...freaky as the new alarm includes a screamer...

If I do not want my stock Alarm activated I just lock from Inside and just shut the Door (not holding the Handle up and only works on Driverside). Rare scenario or standard un-activation remaining of the Alarm?...and yes the Doors remain locked.

Mines an s5 and it looks like theres a seperate control box for the stock alarm located behind the left hand kick panel. Maybe this is for uk models only ?

Ok guys, I unpluged the top most plug from the body cpu on the driverside kick panel. It didn't do too much.

The alarm system still activates. However, everythign seems like normal, until the alarm trips. The only difference now is that the horn doesn't work.

So I'm thinking that the top plug (or the one i plugged is for the horn, not alarm?)

Any Input?

Kevin, could you elaborate what plug it is? I knwo the top, but I thought that was the one I unplugged...


EDIT: and yes it did take a month do that one thing...

Perhaps I told you wrong, and there is another plug above the one I am familiar with. The one I am talking about has a lot of wires, probbaly 20 or more. Toward the top. UNplug that bad boy and see what happens. If I had a spare s5 cpu I'd take pics, but I dont. Perhaps I might check on the one in the 'vert if need be. Just unplug the other plug, I'm sure you'll figure it out. It isn't rocket science. I figured it out myself, by deducing that since s4's had a large alarm control box, the s5 had to have one somewhere. I then figured that they added it into the cpu, but didn't redesign the entire cpu circuitry for just that, so it was just an add on plug, I unplugged things until it killed the alarm.

Thanks Kevin, I remember there was a larger plug under the one I unplugged. the one I unplugged wa only 6-10 wires. I'll do that and post back in a few hours. Thanks!

that is a dealer installed code alarm or audiovox system not an OEM system

but you loose other CPU functions when you unplug that plug

You better go check to see what no longer works... things like the horn, or ignition/door key lights, key buzzer warnings, lights on warnings, etc

^^ Horn was disabled when i unpluged the very top plug. It works fine when I re-plugged it back in. I haven't seen any bad side effects (other than the security system not activating) from remoing said harness. Does the FSM document what the wires are for?

Also, have blinkers, lights, dash lights, shift buzzer, washer fluid low light, all idiot lights per when key is in acc mode. Can't find what else it might disable...

idiot lights and warning lights are not controlled by the CPU on a S5.

oaky, here you go... this is a list of everything you loose doing this:

ignition key reminder
Ignition power to the CPU
12volts power to the CPU
door key lumination
seat belt and passive belt warning
head light warning

and with air bags you also loose flash to pass,

and of course a perfectly good security system

Raelly though, the "perfectly good" security system, was far from being perfectly good. Bad habbits of going off for "no reason" at the worst times (3am ish, or at work, ect.)

I wonder if there are certain wires that could be removed from the harness to disable only the security system...

see that there again, you are killing the worng part. Fix the bad sensor that is setting off the alarm, and you fix the problem...

What is the biggest weakness/problems with FC owners here and at Teamfc3s.org... they rather rip it out than fix the problem.

In therory, you could cut the input wires for the door sensors and you would never arm.

have you try to took out the auto seat belt ecu?
i think that's what i use to pull out and work for me

I didn't note anything at all (other than the alarm) lost when I did this, but the car wasn't a DD either, so I could have missed something.

Jeez, what's the big deal guys? We're not gutting out an entire interior or a/c here, we're unplugging a plug. IT is reversible if you don't like it, takes all of 20 seconds to complete.
