Differences (Appearance) of a Tubro and N/A Engine?
Anyone know a good way to distinguish a turbo engine and a n/a engine just by looking at it bare block? I ask because I just recieved my rebuilt, and all the paperwork says it is a turbo engine, but there at subtle differences from my old one and it makes me wonder if they sent me the wrong one.

Well, the biggest one is the oil filler tube thingy sticks up way further than on my old engine, and doesn't have the gasket / bolt holes so that I can attach the elbow to it. So when I tried to put that intercooler mounting bracket on it to hoist the engine with, it wouldn't fit cause the oil thingy was in the way.
Now when I look at pics of N/A and TII engine bays, I notice that on N/A's it sticks straight up cause the I/C isn't there to block it, whereas the TII's it is shorter like on my old engine.
Heres a pic of it in the crate. Notice the oil filler:

Aren't Turbo housings all 4 port?
Recent NA'a are 6 port.
Easy to see on a bare block
There are also differences in the exhaust ports.

The oil filler neck (Turbo and NA) simply presses into the hole in the center plate. It could simply be an NA filler neck in a Turbo center plate. Or they could have completely stuffed up and rebuilt the engine with an NA center plate.
BTW, a 6-port NA engine has six intake ports, the 4-port Turbo has (gasp!) four.

I wish I was driving!
They put an N/A filler neck in your TII engine, if the ports are only 4 ports.
The filler necks pull in and out, with some twisting. Just get another filler neck from a wrecker.
