Custom carbon fiber wide bodied FC
well ignore the front end and front 1/4 panels (way too wide). See how the doors are widened?

a narrower front end with similar door add-ons to a nice wide rear. the car is angular and you can't take that away without crazy modification. Play with what you have.
see how the front is still wide but not as wide as the rears?

Granted the Porsche is rounder while the 7 is more angular. Trying to make chocolate out of vanilla will only give you a headache.

the doors are custom, so i just widen them along with the body
this is a rough example, but it has a lot of the things i would have, I.E. wide doors, and doors that aren't as tall, as well as the vent underneath the door.

yeah, couldn't tell.
How wide are you going to make the fronts? Rears?
I don't like your idea about the doors (if you're going to make it look like that CLK) but just get all the ideas down on paper from different angles. I'd try doing it out of FG first. You can work on it till it's completed and maybe there will be enough demand for you to take it somewhere and make them in CF (with the right ovens, autoclaves, etc., ect.)
that's what I'd do.

BTW props on the drawing. Have you worked on them and made them smoother? How are the 3D models going?
Have you thought about modelling-clay and a 1:24 scale car?
Check out hypertek's wing thread while you're at it too. I'm liking his wing idea.
Again, give FG

i haven't started the 3d model yet
but i think that i'm just going to plainly model it on my donor car
just spray hardening foam, and shave it away
it will be a while before its perfect, but its a cheap, and effective way to get the shape i want.
Might wanna take a look at that FC RE Amemiya made a LONG time ago. If anyone knows which one I'm talking about plz post a pic.
I think it was a vert, but the door was cut just above/below the plastic body trim, and it has "scissor" doors.

that sounds like something i'd really like to see
yes, if anybody has any pics, please post.
the scoot rx7 has doors like this, but it is a 3rd gen:
wow, that makes me sad to see that somebody has already tackled that basic idea
must.. seek.. to.. be.. different!!!
but then again, that body kit is not to great looking. its clear that its made of fiberglass, i never really liked the way FG bodykits looked.. they look plastic to me
you wont be seeing that aspect on my kit (CF)
thats still really cool though
thanks!

That's the exact FC I was talking about. IMO, that's probably the best way to build up the door, and not make it any harder to open. Also gives you some more freedom in designing that's going to be underneath it.
you said it. thats basically why i was going for the doors like that.
i want to see the end product.
about about makeing a sa/fb some member went and moded most body parts from a fd to fit. then he got a offer to get his car made out of carbon fiber from a usa bodykit maker if he let them use his car as a mold. the deal fell thru because the rx7 member wouldnt get any money from there sales, even tho he did most of the hard work.
the same member put a integra(sp?) front end on his car frist.
belive it was blown and twisted ask him how hard what you want to do he will tell you.

so did I the front bumper the front bumper looks alot like it.. re-stating it will be VERY VERY expensinve especially with carbon fiber!!!
i dont see what would take me 2 years for a full carbon fiber kit
but sure
remember, i'm doing this because i want it for my own car
i just like to talk about it
Alright, then on 1-23-09, 9:46 PM EST, I'll be checking up on your progress, if you don't have a prototype then I hope you have my $100. If you do have your prototype, then I'll check again on 1-23-10, 9:46 PM EST and see if you have any fully functional CF models in production. If that is indeed the case, then I will not hesitate to paypal you your $100.
If you decide to do doors, would you be confident enough and be willing to sit in the drivers seat as someone drives as SUV into your door at 31 mph? (Standard side impact crash test speed)
