CS Header -> RB Pre-Silencer -> ???

So I've installed a CS collected header to a RB pre-silencer (2.5in) to a CS catback(80mm), but it is much too loud. So, I'm going to replace the CS muffler with something a bit more substantial and wanted to see if anyone has a similar setup or could comment on mufflers that would bring the noise level down to bit louder than with just a CS catback at cruise and light throttle.

Current contenders are:
Large Magnaflow straight-through
Magnaflow Turbo XL
Moroso Spiral Flow

With a 80mm pipe on a NA I figure I could get away with the Turbo XL and not kill perf, but have read about them splitting or not sounding great.

A large Madnaflow straight-through would be good for Perf. and likely sound good under accel. but something large enough to bring down the volume would likely be heavy and potentially obnoxious under daily driving conditions.

The Moroso Spiral flow would be a "semi-baffled" muffler which seems like a sweet spot but I have read reviews that their durability isn't up to snuff with NA rotary heat.

I've also considered DNA & Aeroturbine mufflers but they seem a bit gimmicky for the $$. I know Borla is nice, but for less price a Magnaflow has essentially the same design and similar construction.

Comments? Sound clips?

Is it that loud with the silencer insert for the CS corksport canister?

I don't have the insert. ;-)
But I would like to get away from the fart cannon look of the CS can as well.

Expensive, I'll give you that, but everyone overstates the heaviness of it, it's an exhaust for crying out loud.

It's not going to make a noticeable difference due to weight, but you'll love the sound muffling capabilities of it.

I've got a loud as hell Pacesetter header and an Apex'i N1 catback with a cat-delete pipe, and from what I've read on here, installing a muffler in place of the cat will make it a lot quieter. Atleast that's what I'm going to do.

I like RB, I've had them on previous cars. But the price puts it right out, when all I need is a muffler or 2

Just saw your thread and thought I'd add a comment or two. No.1: On NA Rx's Loud = power, but with the right things in place. i.e your pre-silencer, so as to give it some back pressure. No.2: I've had 2 FC's. Both of which, as soon as I started to modify exhaust components, they all got loud. So if you don't want the noise go back to stock exhaust manifold and cat. converters and stock mufflers. I haven't heard or seen any FC not get noticably louder once you mod any of the exhaust components. Just as reference I had RB header, RB pre-silencer, 3 1/4 " piping and an APEX-i universal Turbo app. muffler. Excellent sound, kinda quiet after warm-up and threw 3 foot flames doing TOUGE runs in the mountains where I live!

Suck it up you drive a 7. Why not just cut out a peice of pipe and weld a morso spiral flow in place so ull have the corksport cat back the rb silencer and a spiral flow muffler. Cheapest route you could go as the spiral flows are 50 bucks a peice.

Those Moroso Spirals really suck and get destroyed very fast, my buddy went through 3 of them..they sound aweful ,when the core come loose from the heat..

Can't go wrong with a Magnaflow, the ceramic packing is the only way to go..

Use some Dynomax Superturbo mufflers. They have some round ones that are 2-1/4" through. They are cheap and quiet. They don't flow what a straight through muffler can but that's fine as they flow more than your engine will anyways. Once you get beyond that, there no point in having more flow. Don't worry about fiberglass back there. They'll live just fine. You don't want fiberglass as a front muffler (cat location) as that's where they'll burn up.

The spiral flows are terrible. I don't know about their longevity but they can't flow for crap.

I have the same exact setup. Aside from some exhaust leaks + that stupid ******* noise around 3k at WOT from the cat delete pipe I like it. It's loud + sounds great at idle from the back. I'm going turbo though, so I'll ditch most of it. I have the dual N1's too.

i noticed it made no difference in sound weather the dual n1's were actually hooked up or not (i had to get the Y pipe made).

this is getting to be many moons ago, but we stuck an RB presilencer from the TURBO BACK system in there, and it was much much better.

I had leaks when I first put mine on too, so I bought 4 flange gaskets (doubled up on the cat delete pipe) and a new header gasket. It's noticebly quieter now

That's a good idea. Unforutnatley I have a missing bolt on my header. But I'll be getting a new engine soon so I won't have to worry about it.

Yes and it sounds like ****. Like a Honda with no cats and a fart cannon.
Anyone interested in a CS catback? I'll likely be doing something custom...
