Copper washer down the LIM intake manifold
In the middle of pulling off LIM to clean sleeves, when I removed one of the oil injectors a crush washer went..somewhere. I heard it hit metal, so far haven't found it. In case it went down one of the holes on the LIM, would it go into the engine? I'm hoping I'll see it when I get the LIM off..just planning for worst case..
Yes, this is my 1st time doing all this...

possible it went down the engine. you do need to find it.
the good news is that it usually doesn't go all the way into the engine, it'll be sitting in the intake. i would also spend a lot of time looking around before you pull anything else apart.

I pulled off LIM, no sign of it. Dont see how it could have gotten into the engine with the sleeves there, but who knows. It may have landed down on the exhaust manifold or frame somewhere.

I had this same deal happen to me when I was pulling apart my intake manifolds. Small moment of terror and then instant relief when I found it resting right at the inner edge of my LIM. If your luck is worse than mine, you might get a hold of one of these to check inside the housings and look around your engine.

BTW, are these the same crush washers used on the brake hoses? I've got a few spares of those, but not the oil injectors specifically.

If it's copper, then re-use it. Heat it cherry red with a torch, let it cool, and it will be perfectly malleable again. Shown in this post: https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread.../#post12046935

If you ever take ANY intake piece off, behind the butterflies, cover the holes with tape or stuff them with rags! This will save you countless headaches when working on anything with an intake. I've had a few nuts fall in before. Luckily, I had one of those 4-hook claw things to reach in and grab the little *******. Anyway, cover those holes as soon as you open them!

They were actually selling a manifold cover a while back that you pop over the studs to prevent stuff like this from happening.
Even if you get some paper towel to stuff in the runners it saves you headaches..Or a piece of cardboard Smacked over the studs of the mani to cover them.
I put a injector O ring down mine..it landed at the edge of the engine where the manifold meets.
Ya..it was only rubber BUT I wasn't risking anything when I had so much tied up in the car..So I disassembled the engine (turbo manifold..etc) to get to the O ring.
This shows you that There are forces that want you to be a better mechanic..in some way or another..hahhaha!..Lesson #1...(oh no.,.!)

I help a buddy of mine rebuilt his 302 in his 1965 Mustang. Last thing to go on and he dropped the wingnut down the carburetor. I told him we needed to take the intake off and he said "no, there is no that it can make it down there"...
On rebuild #2 we found it melted and welded to a piston crown...

Well so far I haven't found the thing, vacuumed every opening. I think it may be on top of the exhaust manifold somewhere. Anyhoo, I'm putting it all back together this weekend. I'll know right away if it went into the engine when I fire it up..
The good news is, Kevin Landers is only an hour and a half away..
