That's perfectly normal. Your cooling system is fine.

And what kind of addative do u guys suggest to keep it runing cooler
The only thing that should be in you cooling system is a 65/35 mix of water and coolant. Use a quality, namebrand coolant.

The temp readings can very well over 30F depending on temp sensor location. This is more then enough temperature variation to having a motor running like a champ and one that is poring water into the chamber. Any temp claims or advise given before knowing the posters temp reading location cannot possibly be accurate in all the variations of locations. Thus rendering this user and straggling searchers scratching there heads and one maybe winding up with a leaking motor.

The stock thermostat starts opening at 180`F and will be fully open by 200`F.

Your range is PERFECTLY normal.

I have my Temp guage placed at the S4 filler neck on the water pump.
Yeah yeah blah blah blah it should be before the Tstat.
Well As long as my Tstat doesn't fail in the closed position it will be damn close to the stock sensors reading since it's only like 3 inches away.

I run 180 for a while but once a start getting into it the temps hit 195`F. On a highway boost spree I'll see close but not quite 210`F.

Now the high temp MIGHT be due to a few things. I had a temp problem that disappeared after I replaced my dual pulley belts. The grip surface got polished over a couple months and were slipping a bit.

Now for the posters temp location. There aren't many places to really put on on our cars.
You can tap the waterpump housing, put it on the filler neck or get one of those fancy inline pipes with a tapped location.
I highly doubt the poster placed it anywhere like the radiator or on the return line.

my aftermarket temp sensor is on the spark plug side of the motor, near the front...maybe thats why my temps are a little high compared to his?

i just dont wanna pop my motor.... and soon it'll be getting colder outside... so i wont be having as many issues hopefully...

turbo-polak - Can you be a little more specific? Are you referring to the factory location, or the lower RAD hose? Post #11 will have all of the temp ranges you should be looking at for all of the proper locations for your temp sensor.

its not by the lower rad hose... its below the distributor, right infront of the spark plugs...
