Coolant drain pug for the engine block.

Going to do a fluids change tomorrow and dont have a clue where the coolant drain plug is on the engine.

What would be great is if anyone's got a photo of the engine with the drain plug visible. I assume it's a bolt of some kind, is it accessable from top side of engine bay or do i need to get under?

Thanks for that, I searched but could not find anything. The search facility seems quite poor at finding what your looking for. Or i'm dump and cant use it!

Without a Service Manual I wouldn't have had a clue where to start with finding that drain plug.

i'm RHD so i'll look at passenger side

16mm socket fits it perfectly. I did mine expecting some gunk to pour out, but it ran clean.


Unscrewing it is very easy because you can see it, from under the car. But when you go to put it back you have to feel your way. Just be careful. I thought I had lost my washer there for a minute since it can fall off when you're blindly stabbing it.


Why would you look on the passenger side?

It's a 14mm. Located near the bottom of the center iron.

It's easy to see and reach from above, even with PS and AC. A 14mm ring spanner is easiest to use on it.

sorry guys, the trans fill plug must be 16mm then.


So, they turn the engine 180 degrees because of having the steering wheel on the right hand side. I'm not following this one bit.

Seriously?

The drain is on the left side of the engine. That would be a passenger side of a RHD car, like he said.
