It's just the manifold air pressure sensor. On the turbo cars they refer to it as the pressure sensor. *** backwards. It's a major player in the fuel injection system.

It controls a few things but the main one is ignition timing. Spark is retarded as manifold pressre (i.e. engine load) increases, just like old-school dizzies use to do.

***Mazda telling me I was full of **** and that I didn't have one when I called them...****

Tell the Mazda dealer to read the Factory Service Manual. In the FSM, if they ever read it, the FSM calls the Turbo sensor a PRESSURE SENSOR. And if he looks in the section that deals with non-turbo cars, he will find that they call it a BOOST SENSOR.

But ocnsidering that the dealer has not dealt with RX7's very much in the last decade, and probably deals with Ford products 99 percent of the time......forgive him his ignorance. But then again...this is the guy who is going to fix your car. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Uh...by the hour too.

^lol...I love it when people ask or are under the assumption of something...the kind of people who want to learn more about stuff. When someone "asks" me about my car or makes an incorrect statement I correct them...if I know that they're wrong or if I know the right answer. But the people who blatently say you don't know what you're talking about...I've been tempted so many times to ditch a salesman while on a test drive...leave him off out in the wilderness and return the car to the dealership.
