So they took my car...

I was parked behind my mom on monday or so, and she needed to leave. So instead of asking me or anything, she takes my keys and moves it herself. Flooding it. So I guess she *tries* to fix it. Don't know how. Over the course of the week, my dad and I have been doing anything and everything we can think to get it running again. Somehow, the timing is off by about 15 degrees. And the adjustment has been broken off or frozen or something absurd like that. So my dad calls in the "best rotary mechanic in the city", and has it taken away there.

There she goes...

Last one, it's sad to see her go. Now I'm stuck with my winter beater... 1986 Ford Bronco II.

my mom did the same thing a couple years ago. I had left the windows down and i wasnt home. It started to rain so she went out to put them up, and in the process started the car for some reason. It had sat for about a day or 2 before hand, so after she put the window up she shut the car right off. I went off the deep end. I couldn't get too mad at her cause she was trying to help me out, but still, my car was flooded as ****. It took me 2 days to unflood that thing, and it smoked like ive never seen smoke afterwards.

did you try simply unflooding it?
1.Pull the EGI fuse
2.get in
3.press gas predal to floor (dont pump accel.)
4.try to start car, turn key for 10sec.
5.stop-wait-repeat, 2 or 3 times (never use startet for more than 10sec
6.replace EGI fuse get back in car (dont touch accel)
7.vroooom.

Hey, you know that the timing can't be checked unless the car is idling properly? The computer changes when the plugs fire so frequently that it's impossible to get an accurate reading unless the car is warmed up and idling.

Oh well, too late now. Good luck with the car. Hopefully 'the best mechanic' doesn't mean the most expensive too.

Becareful what you wish for!

I once told my Mom - "never start my car without letting it run for 5 or 10 minutes." About 3 months later my car was blocking hers, and she needed to go out. Being "car concious" and remembering what I said, she started the car, let it idle, and then decided it would be better to just "drive it around the block". Well, she enjoyed her little drive so much that she decided to use it instead of hers! I think that exact quote was "It reminded me of when we had our Triumph. I had forgotten what it was like to drive a sports car!"

I didn't know wether to be mad or proud!

You can't check the timing unless the engine is running. The car was just flooded... Worse case, you would have had to pull the plugs, crank the engine with the EGI fuse pulled, and replace the plugs.

Did you ask the list before you had it towed??? Didn't think so.

We tried uflooding it at first, let it vent out for about 3 or 4 days, tried again, and no go. I'm not sure how the timing is off, my dad said that was a problem, but I dunno, the shop said that the problem was some transmission valve and all. I'll post back with the real problem on tuesday when I get the "diagnosis".

Back when the Rodney King verdict came down and all the rioting started, my mom wanted to go to her office for something... She asked to take my old RX-7, an 82 GSL... She said "That way if there's trouble, I can 'scoot' on out of there!" I said, "A) you ride the clutch like crazy, and B) you drive a big-*** tank (a Chevy Caprice) There is no ******* way you are driving my car, especially during the riots... Drive mine so it can get jacked up instead of yours? How about NOT!"

Mothers can be crazy sometimes....

How did you let it "Vent out"? Did you just let it sit or did you pull the spark plugs? RX-7s can stay flooded for years if you don't pull the plugs and crank the engine...

Transmission valve??? WTF??? There are no transmission valves unless we're talking about an automatic...even them, there is nothing on an auto trans that will keep the car from starting. Sounds like you're about to get raped by a garage that doesn't know anything about RX7s.

Yeah dude. Go visit the mechanic and try the fuse pulling thing if he hasn't disassembled your motor or anything yet.. it does sound like a raping in the making.

I guess he means that he pulled out the spark plugs and let the excess gas evaporate.

I bet the mechanic will also suggest that his exhaust needs new muffler bearing and he is running low on headlight fluid

Don't forget everyone----winter is right around the corner!!! That means it's time to change the air in your tires from summer air to winter air!!!!!

I told that to this girl I know once.....she called me from the gas station begging me to come help her--apparently, she let the air out of ALL her tires at once, and then she found out that their air pump was broken.....LMMFAO
