Bonez Superflo Cat Crumbled!

I've had a Bonez on my 87 n/a for about 3 or 4 years. My old cat (generic mufflershop cat) had the catalyst brick break up and plug the exhaust. So I replaced it with the Bonez, which I was very happy with.
Until now.
It just did the same after about 30-40k miles.
Not really complaining about the quality, but I expected the brick to last longer than that, especially in an n/a.

So, once again, I am cat-less, loud, and stinky. But it sure does go!

One wonders if one's car is running a bad AFR? I hate to say it, but 30-40k doesn't sound bad to me!

How quickly would a cat die on a car running premix and with all the emissions removed?

Forever, because it's sitting in your garage(ALL emissions removed...).

As for a cat without an airpump on a car... not long

A rotary running rich? What a novel idea!

It is likely, though. The motor was replaced at 67k (142K now) and I don't think they checked out the FI system. Not long after I bought it, I found the oil metering pump had 1/4" freeplay instead of the FSM spec of 1mm. I went thru just about every item that could be measured for input or output just to make sure. Found a few things bad or out of spec and replaced them.
But I have never messed with the AFR.
