blown engine/oil seal?

Here's an interesting one for you all. We were out testing at Buttonwillow on Thursday and the car died coming out of a turn. Pretty much it refused to accelerate past 5,000 rpm. Two turns later it died completely and pulled off the track. At that point there was some oil in the exhaust that caught on fire. :-)
We removed the upper intake to find that one (and only one) of the intake runners is soaked with oil, the other 3 are clean. The leading spark plug on the front rotor is covered with oil as well as the hole itself. Any one ever blow an oil seal in this manner? Or does this indicate a different problem that we havn't considered?
The data logs indicate that temps were normal when this happened and that it didnt lean out.

Tubular dowl leak?

Clean the engine with degreaser, then crank over and look for oil seepage...

There's is no oil on the block just in the intake runner and the spark plug hole.

Oil pressure was consistant at 70 psi above 3000 rpm. Mileage on motor was approx. 150,000. (It was our mule) :-)
We we're not really expecting this motor to last but we do want to diagnose the problem to make sure it wasnt user error...

With that high mileage, the oil control o-rings are close to failure.&nbsp Pounding a 150k mile engine is asking for trouble.

Yeah, but its a hell of alot of fun. I was just wondering if the symptoms of failure reflect an oil seal problem or do they indicate something else? (ie: Can an oil seal going prevent an engine running)
