do more research before you just go and buy some off the wall intercooler. do a search using the "search" function at the top of the page to see what others are using on their rx7's.

look You're looking at this:

and it will end up like this: from CRACKHEADMEL's thread

this is what I bought: 27x5.5x2.5

and this is what it looks like on a stock bumper:

and this is my other bumper:

Painted intercooler and bumper:

after posting those pics I think YOU can tell that the intercooler you are looking at is WAY too big............look at all the IC you lose behind the bumper?? kinda pointless unless you cut your bumper.....

You will, its a function of how much air that stocker can move (not much).

I disagree.. The lag will be there. Might not be critical, but it will be noticeable.

Having a larger intercooler than the opening in the bumper is pointless. There might be a slightly smaller pressure drop across it, but there'll be more lag, and it's not going to cool the air as much as a smaller one completely in the airflow. This is a mistake I see happening all the time, most people don't think of it that way, they think bigger = better and forget that there needs to be air flow across it.

Also when going FMIC you need to make sure you have excess cooling capacity. The FMIC partially blocks the air to the rad, and it heats that air up, so the rad has less airflow, and the air it does see is hotter, so the rad doesn't work as well and you're much more likely to overheat.

i would make a bumper with a HUGE opening if I were to run this IC...........but then again I consider that FMIC a race application FMIC and aesthetics as not important in that case......let me find a pic of the race application.

HA!!!!!!!!! found it:.....748 HP car.............I can see where a HUGE intercooler is beneficial when running a HUGE turbo...........but I doubt anyone is going to be hitting anything close to that number

thanks, but is it discontinued? I can't find it on the site, and this would be going on an 87, so none of the lips on their site would fit without modification.
