battery keeps dying

battery keeps dying

soo i crashed the other day and my whole bumper went under the freeway guard rails. soo my hood is fucked over and my fenders and my lights ahaha, alot yes i know. i was wondering though, can i fit a turbo hood on my 88 non-turbo gxl? and ever since the crash my battery has been dying i have a jumper and all but it just keeps on dying and dying, what can i do? it runs but i have to use a battery jumper everytime....

sounds like wiring to me. check the power harness for breaks....faulty grounds and such.

The turbo hood will fit on an NA...you should have a steel hood. You will have to swap out the hood latch to an aluminum one if you snag an aluminum turbo hood.

well...they run from the passenger side headlight assembly all the way to the starter. Of course, the harness starts at the battery....

Nah. You don't need the aluminum hood latch. The standard, steel-hood latch works fine on my GTU with an aluminum hood.

If you have a stuck headlight motor, that is not returning to the up or down postion completely it will drain the battery.

Also front end impacts tend to bust up cells in the battery, so you may be running down 1 or 2 cells, so that your battery is only 10 (or 8) volts.

yeah its most likely that headlight motor, when i wreaked me vert i had the same problem

yeah i knew it was the headlight motors...how do i tend to this motor problem i think i unplugged them, but the battery is still dying soo maybeeh i didnt unplug them right...

find the pinched wires and repair them and plug the motors back in.

oh yeah...it works fine...I have the same thing...steel latch with aluminum hood....but it's better if you run the aluminum latch....

take the fuse out..... its in the rectangular box under the hood. just read the top and it tells you

the top of my fuse box doesnt say i thithe sticker came off, sucks for meeh man thank god i have the forumfor help...can someone tell meeh which fuse it is??

The fuse for the motor is going to be located in the fuse box under hood, and the fuse is going to be the one closest to the fender. all the way to the right.
