ATF Trick?
I have just done the ATF Trick and lost nearly all my compression. It has droped from 70-40-40 to 40-0-0.
Has anyone had this problem? I have tryed very hard to get it running but it just fires once and thats it.
Should the Compression be there or is it dead?

Have you changed both your oil and spark plugs??
Ive heard it is better to change you oil after doing this also, they say its because some of the ATF could get in your oil line or mess with the oil some where some how.

your supposed to use roughly a capfull. Try and get the car started, push start it if you have to, and rev the crap out of it. See you can get it to free up.

Take the plugs out and crank the starter for 5-10 seconds, this will push all of the ATF into the exhaust. Some ATF might still be in the chambers and not letting you get the correct reading for a comp test. Wire brush the plugs and make sure they are clean. Reinstall the plugs and try it.
I really don't think the amount of ATF really matters. I had my 86 soaking in over half a quart for the winter. The more you use, the longer it will smoke.
The last time I did this to my 85, I installed brand new plugs and I still had to use starter fluid to get it to start.

Yes, a little oil in the combustion chamber raises compression slightly, but a bunch of oil will not let the apex seals have a good seal with the housing. Have you tried blowing the excess ATF out?

Right that makes me feel abit better.
I have just taken the plugs out and pulled the fuel pump fues then turned it over till the Battery was flat (5-10 minutes).
I have not tryed starting it yeh as the Battery is on charge, there was a fair amount of oil came out of the plug holes. Tomorow i will put it all back together and fit some new plugs and hope for the best.
