Arrow Air flow meter problem

Hello im Anthony. I swapped my n/a engine in an 86 Rx-7 and put an 88 turbo II engine in my car and the turbo ecu.
I have mostly all n318 sensors except for the afm. When I first got the swap done I didnt have a turbo II afm, so I put the n326 afm on the car temporarly. When I fanally got a n318 afm, the car wont run good with it, but runs good with the n/a afm. From how it runs I think the car isnt getting enough fuel... when I give it 1/4+ throttle it seems to starve for gas.

I put new high impediance 550 cc injectors, new filters, checked for vacuum leaks, new n318 boost sensor, Cleaned all grounds, tested tps, new turbo fuel pump, and replaced all water thermo sensors. The car runs great... but it should have the correct afm on it.

The engine sat for 5+ years. I dont have the knock box and the air pump went out the other day, so the belt is off it and It doesnt have the altitude sensor. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this.... I tried everything I can think of. I also took the afm back to autozone a couple times thinking it was a bad one

The best AFM you will find is a used one off the for sale board and it will cost a lot less. The remanufactured units you get at the national parts stores are noted for being fairly useless. Maybe this is your problem. And what is the elevation for Carson City?

Thanks satch. Ya its a remanufactured one. The first one I got wouldnt start the car at all, the second one would only idle and this one I have now drives, but you have to barely touch the accelerator. Right now I have the n/a afm in the car. So you suggest getting a used one? The elevation is 4700 ft.

And you might want to get the Atmospheric Pressure Sensor if your problem persists. Not sure, but I think the ECU defaults to 1000 ft elevation (should be in the FSM somewhere), and if so, then there's a large difference between this number and your situation.

Can I use a n326 atmospheric pressure sensor or does it have to be an n318?

I don't know, but I just checked and w/o the sensor, the ECU defaults to sea level which is substantially different than your particular situation.

Hmmmmmm that will probably effect the way it runs. Doesnt a car need more fuel at higher altitudes? Gonna have to go order a sensor see how it runs after that. Thanks satch.

actually you need less fuel at higher altitude, higher altitude= less dence air, so the car would run richer with out it at a high altitude.

vacuum leaks. how did you check for them?

a bad TPS will also give similar symptoms.

I used the propane method and sprayed around the vacuum lines ,the engine stayed at a consistent idle. I used an ohm meter to test the tps and its all working good.
