White in Japan, is what Black is here in the States.

Black is considered a death color here in the states, as white is the death color in Japan.

Death color? Hmm, why make a car a death color? Never thought of Black that way myself.

This thread sucks....that's all there is to it.

If you don't like AEs, don't buy one. Leave them available to those of us with full appreciation.

My two will never be owned by anyone else again as long as I'm alive and kicking. And yes, I feel special to own 2 of 1500 cars. And yes, they'll be kept quite close to stock.

Definitely overrated. They don't perform any better than any other S4 TII, and the only two significant visual differences (colour-coded wheels and taillights) are pretty minor, easily replicated and now look very 80's. While they may have looked that part back then, they certainly don't look any better than a regular TII any more.

You guys need to realise this was nothing more than a marketing exercise done to generate public awareness and shift more cars, something every car manufacturer does on a regular basis. It should take more than just a splash of extra paint and a few badges to make a "special edition", but unfortunately the marketing departments realise how gullible the public are.

AE owners just need to appreciate their car for what it really is (a mildly tarted-up 1988 RX-7 Turbo), and not attach some imagined extra value.

I always to think that people who pass me on the road thinking, "what the hell type of fern (Indiana dialect) car is that?!" and have their jaws drop realize that they're seeing a car they're likely never to see in their life again. The only other 10AEs I've seen are ones for sale, never another on the road.

That sounds like a quote from a really cheezy novel...

As has probably already been mentioned, to 99.99% of motorists an AE is nothing more than a white RX-7. The only people who will realise what it is are hardcore RX enthusiasts like you and I, and it would certainly take a lot more than a cosmetic package, no matter how rare, to make my jaw drop.

In Japan white is the preferred color when buying a car. There pretty much anyone will tell you that a white car gets into less accidents than any other color car. I don't know if they actually did a study or if its just a myth in Japan but for that reason people prefer white cars over any other in Japan.
