Well DUH, that was just on there so the super, gigantic, killer bug from the plains of Kansas wouldn't stain the paint. That picture was taken on the trip back, so the bra is off now. I'm a lazy bum and haven't gotten around to posting pictures of it clean, maybe tomorrow if I wake up before 12.

Thank you. You wouldn't believe some of the bugs in Kansas and how big they were. We're talking like, as big as a baseball almost!

With a car like yours i'd keep the bra on simply because of what you are protecting. Rock chips look a lot nicer on an ugly bra than a beautiful 10ae.

The one 10AE I have seen in person was repainted... with a couple spray cans. The owner wasn't very bright.

I was semi fortunate when I got mine as the car had been sitting in a basement for about 10 years in St. Louis! However about 2 years before I got it he had attempted to have it fixed as he thought he had blown the motor when he had acually severly flooded it! This guy was a fat a-s-s, so he took the damn hood off so he could work on it, stuck it outside and never brought it back in for whatever reason. After 2 years of sun and weather beating on the paint it started peeling! I restored the paint on the rest of the car but the hood still looks like crap!

Not ones that are cotton padded on the underside, and are form-fitted as to allow no flapping and are designed to hook onto the body, making an 'air tight' seal. Mine fits snugly and has absolutely NO damage from the 16 years it wore the bra when the guy I bought it from had it on.

is it water proof? Thats what messes up the paint. My friend had a really really nice one on his car like that however the water would seep in and then cause it to just sit there. And if that isn't bad enough the dirt from the rain would also get in there and cause the paint to scratch. You just might want to check it out. If you are worried about bugs (this may sound wierd) you may want to put like pam or another form of non currosive lube on the front causing the bugs to, yep you guessed it, slide rite off. Bugs down in the south are very bad so most of the car washes here do it.

Anyone ever tried that 3M stuff? The thin plastic layer that sticks on and protects yet remains invisible? Looks like a pretty decent alternative to a bra to me. I guess thats based upon just reading articles about it and not actually using it though. I wonder if its actually worthwhile..

I don't keep the bra on all the time. If it rains you're supposed to take off the bra when it rains because yes, it soaks up the water and keeps it there. I only use it for highway travel, preventing the beautifulness of the 10AE in tact. Pictures coming tonight from after I washed it and waxed the windshields.

My car is in the shop right now because a friend of mine is putting in the bushings and also putting a new bumper on (oem) as well as taking care of some paint problems with the car. Here is where I will get flamed my paint job is black with silver racing stripes and a super style spoiler. Anyways I saw your car friday all the way at the end of the computer building. i have a 10th AE i bought with 120k miles, original engine. Its got a few running issues, and chipping paint.

I plan to mod the hell out of it.

There is nothinga bout modifying a car that says you cannot "take care of it" at the same time.

If restoration is desired, it can be done at any time! mods can always come off later if i feel like it.

As long as u dont bend the frame up, its all good in my eyes id just hate to see one of them wreck

I have a 10th anniversarry that I pruchased last year. The car was a write off and the previous owner had really done a number too it. There were three claims on it, the windshield had been replaced, there had been an engine fire (300 dollars damage) and had been in an front end collision that ended up writing it off. A body shop fixed it up cheaply and was sold to a dealership where I purchased her. The upsides of her though was that the interior was absolutely mint and it had low km's on the body. I payed too much for her but I absolutely love the car. But I'm not one to keep the car totally stock. I appreciate the fact that it is a rare car but cant stand to keep it stock. Shes currently getting full 3 inch exhaust, intake, suspension with lowering. For looks shes getting 18 inch Konig Imagines (Rotary Ressurection your car totally sold me on the rims) as well as I have some paint flaking just like others have mentioned that is being taken care of and my back window tinted. Oh and one thing is my car came with ABS just like Jasons so maybe the Canada 10th annys came with ABS??? But I have seen 3 other 10th anny's and only one of was crap. The other 2 were mint. Plus my buddy use to own one and his was mint. But there is one for sale in BC here that says its needs a little TLC but has a rebuilt engine that is selling for 6,000 Canadian. Oh and the plans for next year is to have the car painted white pearl. Thats the only thing that bugs me when I hear people changing the color of there 10th anny from white. Why dont you just go buy another T2 and paint it, leave the anniversary RX7 white damnit! haha theres my $.02. My car will always be mine and I know shes in good hands. I will be posting pics of her soon!

And there was a slight side swipe on the door but other than that it was mint! Anyways nice to see another rotor head in L.C.!

Way over rated... again as said by Road and Track:
Mazda may have made a minor mistake calling this turbo version the 10th Anniversary model, because of its shift away from the sports car and toward the overbur-dened luxury GT car, is a denial of the original concept.

But for the way we like to drive, the Turbo isn't as satisfying as the GTU. The turbocharger gives more power, of course, but the lag is unpleasant and the top-end improvment isn't great enough-nor achieved often enough-to make it a real improvement. And for some reason Mazda hasn't been able to get consistent, uniform quality in its turbo models. Our test car with only 1300 miles on it, had a clunky driveline emphasized by the poor low-end flexibilty that made it hard to drive smoothly until we learned the trick of feathering the clutch and accelerator pedals. In fairness, the torque was better than our long-term Porsche 944, but this is damming praise.

For an expensive GT car, the ride is rock hard, with no compliance or suppleness-again, like the 944. This must be an attempt to cope with the turbo power, but nevertheless a lack of skill in tuning the chassis. And, Considering that this model is the fully equipped luxury version for those who must have everything, it is unnecessarily crude. Not capably raw in the RX-7 tradition, but rude.

It's too bad, because the 10th Anniversary RX-7 has some very nice things, such as beautifully done leather interior, with extreamly comfortable seats and excellent ergonomics. The concept of putting everything in the top model- power, grip, luxury equippement-without achieving an overall harmony is a mistake, for the ultimate satisfaction of the owner, even though it can produce a strong showing in the marketplace.

The [88] GTU is the true 10th-Anniversary version of the RX-7 and a worthy one. We'll pick it any day.
I just don't get why anyone like these? They are as heavy as a S4 'vert or S5 Turbo and don't really have anything special about them.
