91 RX7 convertible Vertical Door Question

I have a 1991 RX7 convertible. I was thinking about making them become vertical 130 degree opening doors that will open and close by Remote Control. Has anyone ever done this to there car that you know of. My custom shop wants to confirm that it wont be a problem to do this with the convertible.

i've seen some pictures of one that had the 'lambo' doors, and it appeared to work well enough... besides being IMO pointlessly flashy and screaming for attention. Especially on a 160 hp, 3000+ lb car.

Yep, I've seen it. Shouldn't be a problem.

No comment on my stance on the subject however.....

No Comment on my stance means your stance is my stance and I know Phoenix & I share the same stance which is why @ 7Stock10 we are going as Captain Obvious and Generally You Suck..... rice = & rice also = & it makes me
One the otherhand I would run far and hide from that shop if they can't fab something to work.

careful thought...the door ac vent is larger than the base edition...so some fender rolling should be used... and also the vert door is heavier than the base addition....so be careful when installing it...

honestly, I would do this on the vert ONLY (not on the coupe) after EVERYTHING else is done; motor, suspension, exterior and interior. Once I have NOTHING ELSE to WASTE my money on and the car is PERFECT then i would CONSIDER IT but I still think it's a stupid waste of 800-1200 bux.

I have mixed opinions on them... I'd love to not worry about my door hitting another car when I got out.... they just look so out of place on the FC, I don't know if I could do it.

Anybody got any better pictures of this? RX7FROMCAL: you have any better pics of the hinge assy? how high do your doors go up? Do they get out of the way pretty good?

I was thinking that too. the FC's doors are HUGE but i think it only looks acceptable on convertibles. HAHAHA I have seen all 4 doors on a civic do that. It looked stupid and WAY out of place!

Yeah.. the ONLY reason I would want it is to get the doors out of the way when in a tight parking lot... FC doors are big.. and for that reason, would be nice to get UP out of the way. But, only if they go up high enough...
