6port oil supply (6port turbo)

wut'd up all,

well, my turbo 6port build is going great, didn't need a adapter plate to put the turbo on, just bought a manifold off ebay, fittment was easy....no my question is.....

after reading aaron cake's 6port turbo build , i saw that he ran the oil supply off the oil cooler, i was wondering if there was possibly another way to do it.....
does anyone know off hand where i can draw oil straight off the block?

i was looking and thought the on the driver side bottom of the motor theres the oil cooling lines, and theres a bolt right next to them, i was curious that would be the supply....

if someone could please, provide me a picture of where i can get oil off the motor, that'd be fabulous......

oooo, right now, i'm sporting a 60's trim t3, with tubular manifold....
i need a 38-40mm wastegate, and than it's alllllll running the charge lines and dropping in new secondary injectors, than the fun part of running a custom dp and exhaust....

lemme know

While the engine was apart, I just went to the front side housing and drilled and tapped the same area where the TURBO gets it's oil. It's on the left side of the front side housing and has a plug there and the plug is staked. I made my own banjo bolt. Works fine.

But your engine is all together and you don't want to drill into an oil passage.

The best bet is to buy or make an adapter to go under the oil filter adapter/tower, and pick the oil off that adapter. Mazdatrix sells them. Or you can buy a block of aluminum and you can cut it to size and drill and tap the hole yourself. Not that much effort involved. Just have to have the taps.

This page, about three quarters of the way down the page: http://www.mazdatrix.com/boil3.htm

What Hailers said. Use one of the oil filter blocks. Get an -AN to NPT adapter and run the line to the turbo.

thanks for the quick reply......

how far into the build are you? how did you supply coolant.....

i was gonna , off the bottom rad hose, theres 2 hoses, 1 for the heater core the other is pump-rad.......if i take a small section of the heater core hose out and put in a piece of pipe, tapped it and put in both the supply and return......
is that the way to go? or should i find a water tap off the motor? and run the return to there?

basically...this is the only part holding me back, i have a welder, and everything but, the following a/f guage, boost gauge, safc, charge pipes, wastegate, bov ,secondary injects, and exhaust.....

i have a nice front mount off a starion.... i also have a, i know i about to say some dreddful thing...... a 255 walbro pump...i was turboing a 1.8l maita motor in my escort, and after the turbo blew the tranny went and than the pump came in the mail like 4 days later.....however, this pump will work with my current application for 2 reasons.......most commonly used parts on the 91-96 egt, are.....rx7 maf, rx7 injectors, and the rx7 pump...

but, could anyone tell me why im frying alternator belts.....the pulleys appear to be 'true', and the alt mount seams straight also, could this be the signs of a bent e-shaft? or, just some idiot over tightened the belt and slightly bent the pulley(s)thus making me buy a new 10$ belt every 4-5wks.....

Go look at your alternator, then come back and tell us where the SPACER is on the installation. Is it fwd or aft of the lug on the front housing?

I put new series five rotor housings on mine and used the water passages from them. Costly. I did this for several other reasons other than water.

Some people use the water nipple on the rear side housing. They bypass its normal route and just run it to the turbo directly. For a return you could just make a tee into the heater return line and put it there. That's most likely what I would have done if I didn't use the series five housiing. I even at one time thought of drilling into the rear rotor housing where the Turbos get their water from. I THINK this could be done even though there will be no place for those large 'o"rings the turbo cars use to keep the water in. Just a fairly thick piece of gasket paper and make your own intake manifold gasket should kee the water from leaking. No reason it wouldn't. Just have to make your own gasket. What? Half to one hour?

You need to search more. ON the OTHER RX site there is a thread in the NON TURBO section that addresses the turbo conversion.

thank you all,

aaron, i watched all 3 of your vid's, and read the entire thing already...it helped me figure a few things out, and i took the advice in not making the adapter, and bought, wut i guess is an aftermarket 13brew turbo manifold, and it worked fantastic......the only problem i for see is the wastegate location, i might need to bend a pipe to go around the motor mount, but it shouldn't be to much labor...

i'm ordering the filter adapter for the oil lines on friday/saturday...than i'm gonna address the water feed once i get that taken care of....

i'm gonna take a picture of the engine bay tomorrow, and you can tell me wut you think................ i don't exactly follow the spacer lug.... for the alt.....but i shall figure it out............that and it's like -10 and my car is covered in snow.......

tomorrow i will post pics of the build so far.....and the alternator problem........

til tomorrow......

NO! We're in the middle of MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING. Get out to that car and work on it!

The alternator is held on with a long bolt. There is a spacer on this long bolt that goes b/t one of the *ears* of the alternator and the *ears* on the engine. That spacer can physically fit towards the rear of the alternator or the front of the alternator. Only one way is right.

Last summer was one of the wetest and coolest summers in the last fifty yrs in Texas. An obvious trait of MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING. Where's Chicken Little when you need him? Oh! He's here in the form of Al Gort.

Couldn't you just run a "T" off the oil cooler return line right at the cooler? Might keep turbo temps down a bit.

The alternators spacer goes next to the rear ear of the alternator.

Hailers, yeah, i went back out there last night, and its in the right spot....now wut, i need a new alt anyway, so i figure get that and buy new pulleys and see if that helps at all...

turbo manifold----
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...em300190991975

it's 139, i spent the extra money, just because, the cheaper one is like 100 or something like that....

pic

works with, t3 or t4 or the hybrid........38mm wastegate.....with a all hardware gaskets, and the adapter for the wastegate to exhaust.....

it's a really nice piece, my only complaint was on the wastegate pipe they left the piece of metal on it that they use to keep it together during the welding process...........the manifold it self is amazing quality, welds are strong (i stood on the manifold and it didn't break, i'm like 250lbs....)
also theres a clearance problem with one of the bolts on the adpater flange, and it is easily fixed by trimming the bolt to the appropriate length...

no problem man, just whenever you mount it, the turbo flange is at the front of the motor.........like in my picture.......also, the wastegate flange is gonna be right on top of the pass. side motor mount...i'm just gonna take the piece of pipe they give you, mount it on the mani, and put the wastegate further back towards the fire wall...................
