1.5k -2k rpm hesitation ????

Before i installed the new water pump everything ran fine. Before taking apart the necessary parts for a water pump install, I made sure the eccentric shaft pulley was at TDC. While installing everything back on, some how the eccentric shaft wasn't at TDC. After some time of turning it clock wise and counter clock wise which i'm not suppose to do, I finally got it at TDC and everything else installed. While driving, it hesitates between 1.5k to 2k rpm. Did I mess up the timing while turning/spinning the eccentric shaft pulley to find TDC?? Or if not, What do u guys think thats causing the problem.
Your help, is much appreciated.

I have no idea why your worried about it being at TDC for a waterpump R&R. I must have done 10 of these and never even gave it a thought. You dont have something connected properly.

The Water Thermosensor on the rear of the water pump might not be coonected properly. Properly "does not" mean a snug tight looking fit as it means "the ECU is receiving the signal that it should be receiving." The connection looking good means nothing if the ECU doesn't read the necessary signal.

If you check the signal at the ECU it would tell you whether the connection needs tampering with or not.

I cleaned and reconnected the connections and still yet it hesitates. After warming up I used a timing light, the yellow marking would line up with the pin. After revving, it wouldn't line up. Do I adjust the CAS?

Did some more test driving. On regular flat roads it would hesitate at 3k rpm and on uphill roads it would at 2.5k? hope this info helps.

Have you checked for error codes?

What year is the rascal/car?

Is the Green/Red wire at the TPS set to 1 volt after the engine has been completely (not partially) warmed up?

Have you disconnected the Pressure/Boost sensor and capped its vacuum hose and taken the car for a spin to see if it changes anything material.

I forgot to mention I did a OMP delete. I did a lot of research. Come to find out the S5 89-91 models goes into limp mode when the OMP is disconnected and using the stock ECU. DAMN! since I thrashed my S5 OMP I have source one know. Everything was working fine before the OMP delete so I hope this solves the problem. keep u guys posted and thanks for everyones advices.

fixed the hesitation. Hooked up the OMP harness and bolted it to the side. it was in limp mode due to the ECU not seeing the OMP. heres more about it https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9399839. thank god for RX7CLUB.
