Does anyone know how to adjust the speed sensitive steering, or is it possible to do it, can you recalibrate the computer. Can you just disconnect the wiring to it and does anyone know what the default is for it. If you unplug it does the power steering not work at all ? Who knows how it works, is it some type of solenoid type valve that regulates the amount of pressure going to it. Does anyone know the voltages that control it, if so couldn't you put a potentiometer in line the set it at the amount you want it to be ? Thanks ex

its all built into the p/s pump. either take it off and have no p/s or try and find a aftermarket generic p/c pump and make it work,

if you have the three line setup with stepper motor on top you have a maximum ( full assist ) and minimum setting
( under 25 km/h )

if you unplug the motor ( and put up with the beep ) it will stay on the last setting

if you take the cover off the stepper motor you will see it activates a clock movement on a gear wheel
,, on the side of the stepper motor box is a grub screw
you can use the grub screw to limit the minimum position suit assist of your liking


ie,, grub screw tunes the amount of assist you get on the minimum setting
you need to take the cover off to observe where your setting the clock to

Thank you so much for the info, I will try the unplug method first and attempt to eliminate the beep. Regarding the Grub , I would assume that turning it anti/counter clockwise will increase the amount of assist at high speed. Oh and btw have you seen any Bunyips lately?
If I forgot to mention this is for a 1988 Rx7 convertable.

wind the clock back to the setting you require ,, then disconnect the stepper motor

you need to take the cover off and look at what happens,, methinks anti clockwise allows it to unclock further = less assistance

if you take the screw too far the clock will flip all the way around and do funny games
you need to observe the end of the grub screw to be sure you set the clock correctly
- you must take the cover off the stepper motor
