forgive my sheer ignorance, but....

i hear all of these comments in this thread about NA convertibles or stock vehicles beating up on mustangs and camaros... wat?!

i tohught the na cars werelike 160 hp...?! most of those cars should have 300 350 ft lbs stock with a v8... double wat.. unless they're completely destroyed or worn out ...haha

i remember a c6 z06 driver and his friend's eyes pop out when i stayed with him from a light... because he couldn't shift... "i have an exhaust leak"

i got into a conversation with some kid who didn't even work on cars but his brother was allegedly a mechanical engineer and after watching my conversation with someone else he buts in and says:
"My brother is an engineer, he said the rotary engine is garbage and is an inferior design".

My response:

"You're so ******* stupid."

mx_man, I beat a camaro with my old engine that had 240,000 miles on it at the time... it's really not that hard if they aren't a good driver.

I haven't taken down any mustangs yet though, but I haven't really tried. lol

my frined who had a del sol not rice just a commuter for driving to running start and all from home and highschool always yells apex seals when we get in debates about my unreliable car when his cars braking and steering locked p and mad him crash and then i asked him if he even knew where the apex seals where he was silenced but a week or two later same debate but he looked it up this time

And all the ricers at my school ask if its turbo'd(getting t2 swap soon)
ask how many cylinders it has or how many liters and then they laugh but
they think they have "that fresh new honda" or some other ****
i dont hate on cars if they have work done to them but when youre trying to buy 50 ebay coils and you have ugly steelies on your ef thinks its freash im gonna bash your **** and smoke you with my 1.3
I hate the super ricers when no engine upgrades done

Oh and my girl friend has even got your boyfriends car is soooo loud and stuff from other little girls hahaha

Yesterday, I had a guy tell me my car smells like a snowmobile, he asked what I had in there, I said "a snowmobile engine". It'll never end.

so i got some racingbeat road race headers and presilencer, and some aspec turbo mufflers (not my choice, they came with the exhaust setup). basically the car is pretty ******* loud. the car has been down for about 2 months due to a trans swap and a mysterious fuel clog that took me forever to diagnose and fix.

monday was the first time i've been able to drive her since the trans failed. i leave the house to head out to the gym, and get a text message from my fiancée. she writes "i'm glad i don't have to share my jeep with you, but i really do not miss the sound of you leaving the house."

I finally got through all 67 pages. I know I don't have any stories yet but all of this has motivated me to get my 7 running.

I still don't get how you n/a guys consider them even remotely fast. After owning my s5 and purchasing a stock s4 to run around in I couldn't believe how freaking slow they are, couldn't imagine an n/a lol

Hey man, when you're used to driving an automatic 95 sentra everything is faster after that haha. My fc is my second car and first stick. My n/a kicks ***, even for a vert since they're a little heavier. I have yet to drive a turbo II but I have a friend who's is bridgeported, maybe he'll let me take her for a spin once just to see what I'm missing out on lol. I still need to figure out how to get rid of the top speed limiter though, she'll only go to 126 in 5th gear and stay at 5000 rpm. No matter how heavy I'm laying my foot down, it just won't move past that haha any tips anybody?

The other day when I ran to a used tire place to get some rim seal on one of my tires while I was waiting outside leaning on my car (no belt = no scratches ) I had another guy approach me and kind of examine my whole car, look all around it and everything and started asking little questions. I thought it was gonna lead somewhere and I might have somebody to chat with but here's how it went..
"This is yours?"
"Yes!"
"Wow its nice, good condition"
"Thank you, yeah, I try to keep it clean and in good condition the best that I can"
"What year?"
"91 with about 118k, bought it with about 112k in this condition for $4600, its not turbo and all that's done is just a magnaflow exhaust though I haven't done anything to it yet myself besides replace various parts haha"
"Very nice, the top goes down?"
"Yep! Its a targa top too so I can take the middle out or just roll with it all down"
"Nice, nice. This is a Nissan right?"
"No its a uh.. an rx7.."
"Oh, pretty cool" *walks away*

God damnit lol

So the other day at work, there was a new guy, he saw my car up on the hoist and was like

Him: "Oh, That's your car?"
"What is it? a Supra?"

Me: "Nope, an rx7."

Him: "Oh that's not a shitbox."

(Ancient geezer returning from the grave.)

My wife: "Those rotary engines aren't reliable and are always burning up."

Me: But....and then I find the dreaded PD common gas leak in my GXL and replace it with the banjo bolt trick.

THIS FORUM: Galactic wars over the evils of the banjo bolt trick. (give it a rest, the banjo bolt works a charm, runs fine, no fires)

My wife: "Well, those engines always burn oil"

Me: Yes, but their supposed to... (I see the look on her face and give up) Never mind.

Finale: Climb into the time machine with me and go back to 1985(yes 1985, I know, I know) and walk into the Mazda dealership and watch as I ask the question: The FB is just a little too small for me and I at least want the big rigs to be able to see me (shhhh! Remember there were no SUV's yet...except for the Suzuki Samurai and thats another story entirely). Are there any changes coming up for 1986?
Salesman: Oh no, no big changes. They're just going to continue the line (FB) for next year. You might as well but one of these.
Glad I waited!
(One more thing....when I ordered the car I asked for a factory CD player and the paperwork had the letters "CD" on it so the salesman thought it meant there was a CD player in it. Well, no CD player in the '86 so they knocked $500 off of the sales price.)

I agree. I LOL'd at the story of the NA 'Vert beating a Cooper S.

Nothing wrong with an NA RX-7 of course, they are a lot of fun. But they aren't fast. In fact, it is interesting to note that most of history's good sports cars were not really all that fast.

In the mountains in doesn't matter what you have, my 101 whp fc was only 3 seconds behind my friends 480 whp fd with 315s in the rear. On the straight aways I never raced anyone, cuz I know i'd lose to almost everything. N/a's are very slow, but still are fun. Now that I'm turbo, the doors have really opened on the possibilities of my car. Can't wait til next season!!!

Sorry for the irrelevant post.... I'm bored at work.

Unless you have a rhd car, there is no speed limiter. Its just called running out of power...

And, what are you thinking going that fast on public roads?

In the spirit of the tread, had a guy absolutely not believe me that my car was from the 80's lol. 7's age gracefully.
