leason? What is a leason?
but seriously why didn't you stop and pick it up when it happened? Or sit with it until someone could get it for you? (I just thought about it wouldn't fit in your car and was probably hot)

This happened to me 5 years ago. They were doing construction on my street and put giant metal plates over some huge holes. One edge of the plate caught my exhaust flange and ripped it off the car and bent the y pipe.
I took the car to Speedy and had them write up an estimate of how much it would cost to fix.... and then forwarded it to the city. Since the road was under construction, they forwarded the estimate to the construction company who paid it in full! Yup, over $1000 paid in full - enough for a racing beat system.

Maybe it was a cop or someone actually intending to clean the city up. Whatever the case, sorry about your loss. A custom 3.5 inch mandrel bent (hopefully stainless steel) exhaust must have been pretty nice. How much did it cost and what type of shop did it for you?

Sometimes, when i see road hazards, i will STOP in the middle of the road, turn my hazards on and if it's a mattress, tree branch or box, i will heave that **** into the woods, someones yard, wherever as a courtesy to other motorists. Maybe that's what happened?
Come to think of it, in hurting times like this, your exhaust could get someone like 5-10 bux at a scrapyard. Enough for a pack of smokes and McDonalds.
