Nice work on the FC. I love seeing them kept so clean. Looks like a white version of mine! Has me inspired to go and do some work on mine!

Thanks for all the positive comments from everyone.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I just have not had much time to work on the car, but should have a few small updates over the week or so.

I bought this exhaust 2nd hand from Japan. Apexi stopped building this particular one a while ago, as did most other Jap tuners that had / have dual systems for the FC.

2nd hand is the way to go as it opens up lots of options out of Japan.

OK,

SO I have installed the S5 air box but head to retain the S4 snorkel as the S5 snorkel does not mount over the S4 radiator. This is no big issue though as they are very similar anyway. The PVC tube runs from the air box to the factory turbo inlet pipe and should free things up a fair bit compared with the S4 air box and S4 air flow meter.

I have also fitted the HKS panel filter.

I also removed the cat convertor and gutted it, then re-installed. After taking it for a quick drive it verified that the cat was blocked as the car now drives much better and makes boost as it should. Previously it would not boost more than 9psi, even with the waste gate actuator disconnected. So now I have verified the cat was the boost issue I will need to get a high flow unit fitted to stay legal.

I gave the engine bay a clean today and also relocated the HKS EVC Boost solenoid to a more sheltered location away from heat.

Anyway, it has all come up pretty good now.

I have pretty much finished under the hood for the short term, I have the following done...

- Series 5 air box
- Custom pipe work to replace air flow meter
- HKS Power Flow panel filter
- HKS Boost solenoid and boost sensor for the EVC-S
- HKS Top mount intercooler
- Top Gun spark plug leads
- Greddy spark plugs
- Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
- Turbosmart fuel pressure gauge

Haha, seriously....time and persistance.

I scource many forums and online auctions almost everyday looking for bargains.

Probably an hour a day would be dedicated to a quick check of 4 or 5 websites looking for bargains - just encase something good is for sale!!

The Yahoo Japan auctions have always been a good source for me.

Thanks. I didn't know if there were certain websites or not. That helps lead me in the right direction.

Just had the FC dyno tuned and am happy with the result.

The car made a peak figure of 195hp / 145kw at the wheels @ 5,750rpm and 11.5psi of boost.

Peak boost was around 14psi @ 4,400rpm but this tappers off rather quickly (stock turbo).

Mechanical / Power related mods are:
Microtech LT10S
Apexi 2.5" Cat Back Exhaust
HKS Top Mount Intercooler
HKS Panel Filter in Stock Air Box
12psi Boost (approx)

So did it make peak power at 5700 rpm? or did you just not run it any further?

Hi Mate,

No, it was run to over 7,000rpm on the dyno, but you can see the boost curve taper off gradually as rpm increase which causes the power curve to progressively fall off too.

Once I get a new turbo in there it will make stable boost and more power up the rev range.

I do not know what you are thinking about as far as turbo's go but Nelson of Rotary Reliability and Racing here in the states is making really nice hybrid set up's. Check out in the 2nd gen dyno section the 10ae w/ hybrid turbo. (my car) It has a really nice torque curve and is good for 300-400 whp depending on supporting mods.
