ON Fuelling at the pumps - Premix

Does anyone else mix their gas right at the pumps? I usually do. not sure if you're supposed to, I get some stares but I don't care. Does anyone have any funny stories?

I've had a couple people start telling me that I'm not supposed to do that and that it will ruin my engine. I just smile and nod. I think I did convince one Honda ricer kid to start premixing his civic.

I don't have any funny stories... Yet.

I just calculate the amount of oil I need, then pour it in and fuel up. No mixing. That's what twisty roads and fuel pumps are for... Plus when you fill up I think it mixes in pretty well too.

Yeah, oil first, then gas. I go half a quart per tank. Probably more than I need, but better safe than sorry.

By mixing I meant adding oil at the pumps. I add my oil before my gas. I have a measuring bottle I bought at a parts store used for 2 strokes. It has graduations on the side. I estimate how much fuel I add and mix 100:1

I use a fluid pump for mine, screws right onto the bottle. I measured the flow for each pump and pump accordingly.

There was a cop at the gas station one time when I was premixing but he didn't even look at me.

I have a pack of 12oz plastic cups to measure mine, it's not an exact way to measure but it works. Definitely add right before you fill up, so it mixes properly.

No funny stories, just some hick starin at me one time, watching me all confused. Then once I started to add it to the tank he yells out, "you know, you're not supposed to add oil to the gas tank!" I just responded with a , "Thanks!" and finished. Lol, that was the end of that.

1oz per gallon = Exactly what you need to run if you have an OMP delete.

If you have an OMP, I wouldn't recommend pre-mixing but one time a month to keep everything lubed up properly. And would definitely not use 1oz per gallon.

I set the bottle on the roof of the car and use the viewing window on the side to estimate how much oil I put in. I generally aim for around 1oz per gallon (no OMP).

a smaller container works great, like dry gas container or smaller 2 stroke like a redline container

fill it up at home from a gallon container

I also have small 3oz dentist cups, they have no wax liner, you can crush the cup so it fits into the fill- no funnel needed

No one ever said anything about the oil, but I am expecting some comments if I switch over to E85

A similar one that I use. Be aware though - cheaper ones won't screw on the bottle correctly, and the results are pretty messy.

Im using idemitsu as the bottle directs at .5oz a gallon. I use some mcdonalds milk jugs which are 8oz. I just pop a filler in the tank and pop the cup in, go pay for the gas, come back and fill it up. When people first started asking i tried explaining to them and they looked like i was speaking a foreign language. Now i just say its octane booster, which is funny cause i does the exact oppisite

I have always used pre-mix and I DO have a mechanical pump in mine still. Works great at 1 ounce per gallon. I even seem to get a little better gas milage overall (as long as im not stuck in traffic) I have used Idemitsu, Royal Purple and Motul Pre-Mix. They are all really great I recomend ANYONE with a Rotary engine to try it.
