Oil Pressure Mod

Was planning on changing the 20b rear oil pressure regulator with an FD one and change the front bypass with the FD one as well. I'm wondering if anyone has gone further and shimmed or pressed the FD regulator to get a little more pressure. I have the pineapple tester and was thinking about increasing it another 10 PSI by pressing it a little bit. Also, was going to run without a gasket to promote a stronger seal on the front o-ring.

I've already ported/polished the oil passages fyi.

The stock 20b regulator is ~70 psi like the FC's. The FD regulator is 90-105 psi. I didn't port any coolant passages, only oil.

I tried squeezing a spare one in a press. The stock FD regulator seems to crack at 85-90 PSI while my modified one cracks at 100 PSI. However what I noticed is my modified one now has limited movement so I wonder if it will be able to bypass enough. I think I compressed it too far to be useful on a street car. The compressor I was using only pumps out 115 PSI so I'm not sure how high I brought the pressure up.

I'm probably just gonna use a stock FD regulator, don't want to risk smoking from high oil pressure.

if you can find the old rx4 13b type one it screws apart and you chuck a corner seal in there under the spring and it will make 100 psi

else with later / up to FC ones you can weld a nut on the end and use a bolt and another nut to wind pressure to whatever you wish

..however .. the reg relieves out the side exit and i seriously doubt you have crushed it so much that you no longer get full stroke on the valve

Unless you're having oil pressure problems put the FD regulator in and call it a day. Increasing oil pressure doesn't solve any problems. In all of my builds I've never ever crushed the rear oil pressure regulator. Running a higher oil pressure will just increase strain on the engine.

The most important criterion for good lubrication is clean oil properly weighted and OIL FLOW, not oil pressure. You've done oil passage porting, call it a day.

I put 2 small washer from lowe's or home depot that are the same diameter as the front spring (regulator?) in the bottom of the front cover. I used a fd rear reg with no mods and got my engine to stay at 55-60 at idle. Never drops below that but doesnt go past 110 at WOT. Just got car running with this setup and it's steady as hell. Ran 2 gages on it to check for differences, one off a racing beat block under oil filter and a second on front iron turbo feed outlet using a temporary "T" setup. Both gages marked about the same, less than 1pd of difference.

I don't have oil issues, I haven't run the engine yet lol. Was wondering if other people were going above and beyond for more oil lubrication. Though, your probably right, I'm going to run the engine as is and see. I'll pull it out next winter and look at the internals after track season and decide then.

I change my oil often and run synthetic so probably be fine hehe.

Thats why I asked originally. I dont see the need either. I never have. I plan on running the stock fd or 20b pressure regs. I do plan on putting oil to the center bearing from the turbo oil pressure port.

Definitely would not suggest running the stock regulator lol.

hi guys im new to the forum. tried to find the most applicable thread to write on because for some reason i cant seem to figure out how to post my own message or start my own convo...
ive got a '96 series 6 FD, iv got an oil leak near the LHS engine mount i took the mount off and saw that the leak is coming from a small hole on the rim of the sump, there is a small tapped hole near the oil pressure fitting on the "block" what is it for and how do i stop oil leaking from it?
any help would be very much appreciated.
