You could try flipping the IC so that the outlets are at the bottom. That should give you enough room to work with, but you may have to remove the front bumper to do the piping.

Nah, the HKS tranny is probably out of the question. Right now I'm thinking of a Geforce tranny....

Yeah, we tried that before grinding away.... the outlets on the end tanks are just WAY freaking huge and they hit the frame underneath and make the IC hang under the front spoiler 3 or 4 inches.... frame cutting was the only way to get the "upside down" approach to work... I'm pretty sure we're going to have to do it anyhow now... (but not nearly as much as the "upside down" way would have required....)

That's a custom core, right?

Is he still using the stock bumper? What year is his car? when we pulled my front bumper off, the bumper supports were in the way... the slightest front end accident and the intercooler is gone... I dunno, it is a tough choice. So far, it looks like its going to fit where we were trying to put it last night. Just ran out of cut off wheels and had to go to the store

No, not really. Its made by a company called Hybrid out of Australia. It flows over 1400 CFM and has a .02 pressure drop at 15 psi. I figured for the price I got it (half of an equivalent Spearco IC WITHOUT end tanks), and with those stats.. I would make it work. Now I'm testing myself....

..... here goes nothing..... grrrrrrrrrrrr (thats the cut off wheel )

OK, live and learn....the IC ain't gonna work there. I don't want to remove my bumper support, so I THINK we have an idea... I'm going to move the oil cooler up front a bit and put the IC at an angle where the oil cooler was. I think this will work well. 20Bs have overheating problems, so this may be the best solution yet. I may end up getting a nice big and shiny oil cooler, but not right now... its just moving to the other side of that cylindrical support inbetween the frame rails. The radiator may have to move into the engine bay an inch at most, but I think it will be ok, especially if I angle it... Hell, the fluidyne almost hits the front sway bar as it is

After yesterday, I need a day off. I'll hit the car full steam tomorrow and update then.

Looks like i have a bunch of cut away metal for no reason, oh well, **** happens. Didn't cut the frame, but it has tiny holes in it now (about 1 inch long an 1/2 inch wide). I'm not too worried about that... just looks like ****. once I get my ducting and stuff in there, you won't be able to see it any how.

I need a beer.

It's a tight fit.

That looks pretty darn similar in dimensions to my intercooler. It's similar to the Greddy IC that Seth has, but is thicker. I ended up taking the stock bumper support out, but I plan to weld up a new one that has a couple 1.5" tubes bent to follow the contour of the bumper. I'm more concerned about surviving a head on collision than I am about protecting my intercooler.

Here I have the front bumper of my car removed. I welded tabs to get the intercooler to fit. There are a few relays in that area that will need to be relocated.

This was really weird but...before I bought my body kit, I blew up what photos I had and measured how wide the opening was. The R-Magic front looks similar to the RE Amemiya front at first glance, but in reality the center opening on the R-Magic is about 5" wider. (I had a RE Amemiya bumper which I ended up donating to my roommate's silver FC.) The intercooler fit with less than 1cm of clearance on either side. If I had mounted the intercooler with a factory bumper I don't know how much material I would have had to have cut. Also, the 2.75" piping would normally interfere with the headlight motors. Again, not a problem with the R-Magic front, as the fixed headlights leave a lot more space under the bumper. This work was all done about 2 years ago, before I stopped work on the FC and built my 240sx. I am anxious to complete everything though. Also, I finally have my own digital camera now after shoplifting RETed's Mavica for over a year, so I should be able to take more/better photos when I get back to work.
